I'm pretty sure that's where the cab under concept came from. It's a cool idea because it allows the trailer to be much longer while still maintaining an overall vehicle length limit. The problem is right around then the NTSB decided that 53ft trailers should be the limit without an oversized load which made the cab under concept useless
