Delusional or Money Laundering? Sheridan Vintage Rare Paintball Marker

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/35684635807...Condition=3000

Sheridan XTS listed originally for $450.00 Its not uncommon to have a weird gun listed for too much, but this was my interaction with the seller.

Me: "Its a Sheridan XTS. The last one I saw sold for $30-ish. You can do an advanced search and select "sold" to price check."

Them: "Okay lol , def not the same gun… this one is extremely rare and you will not find it"

    Them: "Best of luck"

Me: "I'm not interested, I was just pointing out what it is and what its worth. Again, you can search for "Sold" listings to see how much something sold for. Also here are 2 current listings for this model

Sheridan XTS Paintball Gun (Includes: Manual, Hopper, Squeegee)

    Sheridan XTS Paintball Marker Black

Them: "Okay cool , I don’t remember me asking you ?? So why don’t you mind your own business 🤓"

The majority of the sellers with unidentified items that I identify are thankful for the info and sometimes even adjust the price to reflect the market.

Some of the sellers I've interacted with are a combination of Doc's famous "Craigslist Strip" and the antiques road show people who think their yardsale junk is worth a fortune. Thats probably this seller.

But, years ago I read an article about craigslist sales that had some theory like "When someone on Craigslist selling a dresser shows a picture of a teddy-bear sitting on the top left of the dresser and they have it listed for $12k, it actually means they are selling half a kilo of cocaine". More recently I've read about people laundering money by selling random junk on ebay for way more than its worth so they don't have to deal in cash... which isn't exactly a new way of laundering money.

So what do we think, just a belligerent guy who won't google his own item and explain why its rare, or someone laundering bathtub meth money with a fake ebay paintball sale?

I don't know what it is

Therefore it must be "rare" and worth $1000000!

In the clerk's office at the municipal court where I am the public defender, they have a sign which reads "We can't fix stupid, but we can give it a court date."

Just go browse eBay paintball listings for a couple of minutes. Sort by newly listed. Seems like at least half of what is there is "idiot bait," stuff that's outrageously overpriced in the vain hope that some idiot will buy it for some unimaginable reason.

The Automag: Not as clumsy or random as an electro. An elegant marker for a more civilised age.
