    "Ultra" Barrels. 9.5", smaller bores

Came across these, look really neat. But kind of expensive. .680 .686 .687 available, 9.5" and seem to be well made. Only available in cocker threads.

I hate the aesthetics. Reminds me of a stock ion barrel. They claim the best internal finish at a 6ra. Id like to see one compared to a Lapco as they seem to be the best internally finished bore Ive seen.

Functionality wise, they seem to check a lot of boxes, but I have a hard time buying one when they look like they come stock on a budget marker.

You gonna pick one up and review it?

That looks worse than a stock a5 barrel. Ugly. But, if they function, might be worth picking one up... We need an MCB review of it!

I call bullshit on every single barrel manufacturer out there, with all their claims on superior accuracy due to whatever the latest fad might be.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my mind, there isn't a barrel on the planet that has a greater impact on accuracy than the paint you are shooting. I would like to bet there isn't a single premium barrel shooting field grade paint, that will outperform any stock barrel shooting pro competition grade paint.

With that said - as stated above - aestheics is make or brake for me. I have an absolute shedload of barrels from different eras/guns/etc in order to match the barrel that looks the best on each and every marker that I own. So, to each his owm I guess.

You are right any barrel that is reasonably straight with a reasonably smooth barrel will perform as well as any of the "higher end" barrels. The ball itself has by far the most impact on accuracy and precision; to the point that barrel impact is in the noise of the data. You only need a barrel long enough to get the most out of your air source and valve train. IIRC that is 9-12 inches in length according to Tom Kaye's research though I might be wrong it has been a long time.

Take this with a grain of salt....

Guy pushed these in one of my groups I mod on Facebook, I asked him to provided a tolerance and RMS finish standard for the barrel bore and he didn't understand what I meant..

    Dudes full of crap.

Edit ... Promptly banned in my group

I saw he has some more medium to large bore options with different milling on his website. I know aesthetics are important to folks, but at $60, it's more expensive than a Lapco, 2x the price of a CP. Not like shorties are a hot commodity in the game these days anyway. I just bought a 9" prostock barrel for $16 shipped on eBay.

This is just another cheapo chinese barrel with big claims on accuracy, no?

The short length and 680 bore size are appealing. But Lapco offers that as well, at the same price, and you know what you're getting

The local shop got a crapload of spyder threaded Ultra barrels a while back, but they didn’t look like these. They were basically a dye ultralite copy with an elongated ported area, and I would concur they were cheap knockoffs of other companies. I cannot recall how the bores looked as I wasn’t standing around the shop eyeballing barrel bores

the gold Barrel tip next to my red spyder is an ultra that had a “custom ano” from the factory. It looks like the flames were done with masking tape as they aren’t the smoothest in layout

Update, Ultra barrels were manufactured by Mako and were clones made by Francois Louvet under one of his many knockoff companies. Just found this out today
