cave_hero has an Eclipse splash Bushmaster and IIRC he said it took a long time to find it. I've only seen a couple myself (in other people's collections). I wouldn't pay that much, but perhaps that price isn't overly farfetched considering it's Eclipse & they don't pop up often. That's a collector's item, for sure.

Items get relisted due to non-paying buyers. There is little to no recourse for not paying for an auction won. You get a notification when you log in that won't go away for a good bit of time, but you can still not pay for many many items before anything happens to your account.

People will bid up an item intentionally in an attempt to tire out the crowd following that item. It's also a cheap layaway tactic if the person wanting the item doesn't have the funds at present. It's done to buy time in order to come up with the needed money to afford the item.

Shopgoodwill would benefit greatly from revising their policy.

I contacted them once when that brass eagle eagle sold. Anyone know where that ended up? Anyway the location selling has an option on the site to contact them via message. I was able to get a few extra pics of that eagle by doing that. In my message i sent them a bacci link to his write up just so they knew what they had. They were very appreciative in now knowing what a rare item they had. Maybe make a offer. Honestly i think $500 is fair for the rarity of these things popping up complete. The Apocalypse reg is probably a good choice to run on these things since i hear ICD regs suck. Can't hurt to be honest with them. I bet they really dislike this happening on their auctions too. .

I did once see a listing for jewelry on shopgoodwill that specifically said in the title "this is the last relisting".

Would a deadbeat bidder still bid on it if that was the case here?

Unfortunately I think they would.... If it was higher than they would pay I am guessing they would take their chances it would get relisted or just make it so nobody could have it
