How did those shoot? I can see them shooting a lot better then a 98 custom or A-5 with flatline but they never took off. Was this because of the Tippmanns, or something else?

I don't think I've ever even seen one in person... but I would think it would be much nicer than the Tippmanns. I remember some discussion somewhere here recently about there being two versions of these... a factory version and an aftermarket conversion. I don't know enough to say which this is.

I can't say if they did an aftermarket version but there was an 01 RF and an 02 vert feed.

I doubt it shoots any better than a 98 with the same barrel. There is really nothing radically different. The ball gets pushed to the roof of the barrel (which is a huge bore) to make it spin backwards.

Shane-O Thank you so much for the info, the only reason i was thinking that the autococker version would be better is that autocockers tend to be more consistent shot to shot and that might help to dial it in better. With that said though you are still reliant on the paint being round and no dimples and all of the other factors that the 98 flatline barrel deals with. I do know that i have shot an apex tip with an autococker and while cool when it worked it was still just okay.

the apex tip is a world better than the flatline ...
Ive shot both the cocker and 98 flatline, and i like the 98 better, i had several chop on teh cocker and you cannot swab the thing, not remove the barrel easily ...

I had not thought of that about swabbing the barrel. There really is zero way for you to swab that barrel short of pushing it all down the barrel.

it has to be the flex silicone ones, or the old style wrapped wire ones.
You either have to take the whole barrel assembly off, or remove the bolt and swab from the back ...

The WGP version also came with a lower quality version of the barrel, though you can just swap it for a standard Tippmann one and be good to go. The Tippmann one has a grippy coating inside the barrel to theoretically help impart spin to the ball, the WGP one lacks this coating and is just smooth.

i got to shoot one a few weeks ago as a pump that my buddy has, its wild,, id never gotten to mess with a regular flatline much back in the day, it does what it says.. the ball "holds" in a float for a second at the end of its arc. BUT, you cant tilt it out of a bunker and expect to hit anything either

Adds some english to keep it on the green. Pretty cool.....

Although with paint being small nowadays I wonder how effective it is...

Small paint doesnt affect it other than possibly rolling out of the barrel.

The one that I had the opportunity to shoot about 15ish years ago produced rolling dumpster sized groupings at around 70ft. Feel free to blame the paint or my aim. I wasn't impressed with the accuracy at all but would still love to have one just because.

I have had a few over the years both pump and Mech.. Its a 100% novelty...Perfect for oohs and ahs around a Crono, useless for anything practical....Its a bucket list must have until you have one....
