What happened to being the "eMeK kIlLeR¡!"

I keep seeing these pop up with not much movement

I bought one. It is ok performance-wise and for the price, they're really a good deal for a brand new marker. But they aren't as easy to maintain as an Emek for sure, and they don't look particularly high end like an Emek can. They are not new user friendly like an Emek.

I want to love Nova stuff but they aren't at a level of reliability anywhere near PE, Dye or other main manufacturers. I would only own an N3 if it was reliable and easy to keep running. It was fast, light and I kinda like the back kick but I had to keep sending mine back because it kept failing and I couldn't seem to fix it. I bought and resold a few that came in non-working. They just aren't a great owner's experience. Their new stuff like the autococker are coming in new with issues and need fixing right out of the box. That's not what a small company like them can afford to keep doing. I wish they sold only 2-3 models and they were rock solid and worked better. Instead they are tinker's that want to keep putting stuff out before perfecting the last one. That's why I didn't even waste the $800 on the N2. They are being resold for $350 and no one is biting. At the rate they are going, I don't know how they stay in business.

This is my sarcastic post because the owner of Nova accused me of working for planet eclipse. He told me the N4 would kill the emek market. Lol

I made it my business to hate on that company

I got the sarcasm but there are real reasons that they didn't take over like I mentioned above.

Unlike CND_Cuda's take, I really didn't like the shot quality of the N4, especially compared to the Emek. And I didn't have anyone care that I was using the N4 at the field. I have way more people ask me about my upgraded Emeks (Even my stock looking one minus the skulls body) than I did with the N4. I would take the stock Emek (minus the stock barrel) any day over any of the Nova's. I liked the N3 because it's light and funky but I think the Emek is far superior in too many ways.

Also, the half shroud was weird. I know they now make a full shroud for it, but it is a weird setup. I loved the look and feel of the N3 shroud but the N4 just made it look half done or cheaper somehow.

I also think that Nova owners that try to resell are shocked to see how much they lose on the depreciation. There's no way that guy sell that for $200. He's going to be lucky to get $125. The N3's were $600 originally and resold for closer to $250-300. The N2 was $800 and there's a guy that can't get $350 for one that is almost new. You buy one to own and keep, not resell. The N4 is a particularly hard resell. They aren't too much more new and adding a barrel and some grips isn't going to bump the value much.

These aren't bad guns. They're actually quite fun to play with. It's definitely not for entry level players being closed bolt. The Emek is way easier to clean and lube as well

Tough sell when they’re $199 brand new.

I like mine better than my Emek. It's more interesting to shoot. Emek does outperform it, but in like the shot of the Nova better. In Canada a stock Emek is $503.99 with taxes so the price point makes it lose a lot of its appeal.

Also, when I've brought people come play they also favour the N4 over the Emek as well, even after shooting both.

Love then or hate them, at least Nova is doing interesting things. Otherwise paintball is feeling pretty stagnant and relies on the next e-marker of the week to be released with twister milling......

I can't put a double trigger on one....

There's also 0 chance of a drop forward

I have a double trigger on my emek and there's at least a slim chance I can track down a numech drop forward at some point.

I forget which one I shot, Super Nova has it, but I thought it shot well so I'd love to have something like that but the lack of being able to customize it the way I want without having to drop $750 on a few custom made parts is a deal killer

Trbo323 not sure but quite likely you shot my n4 if you shot one.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I think the main reason for the low resale value on these markers is the general lack of awareness about Nova. While it has some dedicated fans, its following is much smaller compared to a Planet Eclipse marker. Additionally, guides and resources for these markers seem to be community-driven and are slowly emerging.

I've shot most of the Nova markers except for the NX-1 and N5, and when properly tuned, they all perform well. The challenge is that when they’re not dialed in, they can be quite tricky to work on. They also tend to require some tinkering—using Loctite and other adjustments—to ensure they stay reliable.

And long term support is not clear. Buy an emek and you can keep that thing running for the next 50 years. Nova may move onto something else, it’s not obvious if there is a stock of replacement parts.

I said the same thing when this was announced, that this would never compete with the emek and I was told I was a cynic and to bite my tongue.
