Ebay buy - cancel - relist

I bought an ETHA 3 (for parts not working) off eBay for $180 and shipping and tax- came out to around $220. The guy message me saying he had to cancel the order as it “double” sold when he may have been editing the post. I never heard of that happening; but stuff happens. Bummer but not a big deal. Now the marker is listed again for $320.

I think he sold it lower than he wanted to and then backed out and relisted.

    Thoughts on that?
Anyone have something similar happen to them?

Yup happens a lot. Especially with new accounts. I have even had People try and pressure me into paying more after winning it legally.

I on the other hand gave a marker away for free after selling something as is and explaining exactly what a marker needed. When the customer complained and wasn’t happy with a marker I sent him that I very clearly described as for parts.

Cost me $50 to sell something on ebay after not being familiar with the shipping cost of some products. Then I got fees and tax on top of that.

I really dislike EBay I haven’t purchased from there and certainly haven’t sold anything there in a very long time. Wish there were better alternatives to Facebook and EBay. They both are pretty terrible.

Anything paintball related MCB is far superior.

      Happens a lot.

I have had several times when shipping was not enough and the seller comes back and asked for more money for shipping. Out of principal I always refuse. A couple times they just canceled the auction.

As much as I hate eBay, I do use it for buying and selling stuff. I buy because sometimes they just have the rare part I need. I like to use it to sell as I never know a fair value on what I'm selling and I'm real busy, so it's way less management. Right now I listed a DFender on FB groups (and here), and three people agreed to buy it but then just ghosted me after sending my PayPal. I can throw it up on eBay, get an extra $100 they will take $120, but most times the sale goes through and it's super simple.

Yeah as a seller it’s Ok. I thought about making a new eBay account name that would be blatantly obvious cross post here so members can save the fees and I can get the exposure of EBay. I have a lot of high end gear and I hate the idea of paying tax on products that have already been taxed. I refuse to pay tax on stuff I sell bought with taxed money as if it’s income. Government will have to fight me on that. I refuse to claim it especially when I can show losses. I will fight that out of principle at this point. My hoard has grown to overwhelming status since I left Social Media because my ability to easily sell has dwindled with my free time. I have no problem circumventing EBay whenever possible. They corner the market then let big government overtake and rule. They outsource/ automate /AI disputes that breed scams on both the seller and buyers side. It’s a shame what it’s become but may be the necessary, evil unfortunately.

          Happens a lot...

I actually had a guy change the price on something after I already won the auction he jacked it up by about 200 bucks. I told him to kick rocks.
