Rathbaster's last ever $1 opening bid no reserve auctions

The last of my autococker bits and the last of the extra Phantom bits

This will be my last ever selling on eBay...they have made it more of a hassel to sell than posting here in the future...
In 20 years of selling on eBay I had 1 non paying bidder....I'm getting 2 a week now
Once everything is financially set with eBay I'm deleting my account

A few people from week 1 I recognize from here should expect a second chance offer as soon as I can cancel and block the non-paying bidders

I am done with them too, at least from a Selling perspective.

After getting back into paintball 2018 , I have used eBay strictly as a buyer.

I decided to try them out again this year to sell some stuff.

      Wow, what a terrible experience!!!

      Issue1: Seller Limits

I tried to list 3 separate items. I quickly found out I was blocked by Seller Limits, In spite of have an account since the beginning (23 years ago ) and having high 90's +ve feedback , I now have to prove that I am a reputable person. I wasted a lot of time setting up my Listings, only to find at the end, I couldn't actually list them. Very, very annoying.

Issue2: Auctions are not what they used to be

I setup 1 ad for some classic NES carts. I priced the Auction just under the value of the best games, effectively whoever wins gets the less desirable games for free. I set it for 10 days to give it a few more days for folks to see it. I set it to end on Sunday evening , so interested parties would be home. In my previous experience, I thought I was doing all the right things. I ended up with only 3 watchers, and one single bid. So having priced it lower than value, and with eBay fees, I am getting substantially less than the value of these games. And good games they were for those how know, desirable Mega Man 2, Castlevania 2, Kid Icarus, and several filler titles.
Considering my Auction is supposed to be seen by all of the USA and Canada, and the items are desirable, but only get 3 watchers, and 1 sniper, obviously eBay does not have the reach it used to have. In the early 2000's this auction (albeit i would have had it priced lower for the time ) would have seen a frenzy of bidding!!!!!

      Issue3: Banking Info Issue

So, this is the last straw ! I went to xfer the funds to my paypal account, like I have done for decades !!! I immediately find out my funds are on hold, and i have to give eBay my Bank Account info !?? This is insanity !!! Why would I agree to open myself up to that risk, and give them my main banking info. If they get hacked (which everyone will at some point), I could get wiped out !!!!
I chatted with their customer service, and they won't paypal my money or etransfer my funds. In no less words, the guy said if I don't setup a connection to my Bank, and the account and funds just stay in limbo, they have a process in place to eventually just steal my money!!! I told the guy, I'm going to setup a separate bank account somewhere with a low balance, xfer my money , and say goodbye to eBay for good.

I may return to it as a buyer down the road, but for now I have sour taste in my mouth. I will never return as a Seller.

I find myself in a similar situation and with similar complaints. I had to much stuff to sell to manage a sale here so I stuck with eBay for the last three weeks just to clean out the extra paintball stuff. I have little enough left to sell that when some time opens later this summer I'll be able to manage a small sale here.

I tapped out when they started requiring banking info.

      Nope, just nope.

I have an account that is only linked to paypal and has very little money in it most of the time. Right now as soon as possible I sweep the money out of that account into my savings...so little stays in there. When all my selling is done I'll just disconnect it.

The funny part is that there’s way more people in the world now than in the 2000’s. Where did they all go to do their bidding and auctioning?

unfortunately our culture has been moving towards buying new but cheap shit instead of second hand good stuff.
