Montneel Design Icon Z1, Mega-Z Gun Collection Vintage Paintball

just saw this, don't know if that's a good price but looks like an interesting lot
This is a First Gen Icon Z1 (The Unofficial Gray Ghosts Series) This gun is 1 of the first 50 ever made! This gun was made in their first factory. When it was made it did not even have a serial number or serial number plate!

If that goes for a grand then im rich. Nice set but I’d put it around half that. The grey not having a notch for a serial plate is interesting but the velocity adjuster is still at the bottom so it’s not what I’d call a unicorn. If those were bothe mega as with splash finishes and one was a nitro and they all worked, then maybe we’d be approaching that price. Not a lot of Zs for sale these days tho, who knows?

That 2nd Mega-Z is a converted Z-1 , which is pretty cool! I would guess whoever took the trouble back then to send his gun in, was probably a tournament player that wanted the tighter setup, and better siphon effect with the vert bottle.

There are lots of them out there, I have a few, including a nitro’d Z1. I wonder how many Z1s were ordered with the MegaZ upgrades, I would bet at least one of mine was. At that point the only difference is the anno. A black mega Z has a much smother anno then a z1, but otherwise you could get all the upgrades on a z1 for $100 bucks less.

This sale has been hanging around for awhile. I Agree with Chappy on all his statements on these.

            What's the realistic breakdown?

            $175 for the converted Z1
            $100 for the Icon Z1

The convert doesn’t have a complete valve so $175 seems very high. If you took out the two working guns every else “might” be worth $200. I believe the other two are worth the $200 and $100 but how many people are paying that? All the extra bits are cool but not that desirable. The barrels are neat but none of them are modern bore size so they are not really helpful.
If this was $400 shipped I’d probably be considering it. But that’s the crux. Most of us who want this stuff already have most of what is here. And as much as I think a decent mega z in working condition is worth $200, not many people are searching these out anymore. But again, it’s not like these are being bought and sold at a high rate. They only get more rare so you never know.

How many mega z sold for $200 in last few years?
How many mega z did not sold and sat for month for $100 in the last few years?

I love all of those, but demand for old school paintball equipment has been slowly fading. Not much love for the early 90s era, as much of the tech was clunky and inefficient. Its my favorite era though. It was the wild west of tournaments, since most were still in the woods, and the rules were all a bit loosy-goosy.

Chappy is right about the FPS adjuster. Moe told me that the first batch of prototype guns had a side-mounted FPS adjuster. and for whatever reason, it was making all the paintballs curve to the right. About 10 of those were made. They switch to the underside FPS adjuster (which they then claim gave every shot a backspin). They contracted CircleT machine shop to make about 100 "Greys". But then a money dispute came up, and they switched to Akraturn machine shop to make another 400. More money troubles. Moe told me they had no idea how to run a business. Every night was "party night"..... strippers and lobster.. They switched to another contractor, but no more "grey" guns.

Could very well be in that first 100 range. All my "greys" are after 100 and before 500, and have a darker color, but that might just be how they look on camera.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm actually the guy who bought this. Some of the guppies it came with were made by Indian Springs, so that's another interesting thing here. It didn't include the straps, but two of the black Rothco shoulder bag straps with the pad removed work as a more than acceptable substitute. The quality of the thing is incredible, even by the standards of real surplus equipment. It works well paired up with a 100 round hopper, the guppies seem to hold about 70-80 each. I'd love a black one to complement it, if I were to ever come across one.
