I snagged it! owned one back in 2003 or so and it was old then. Guess I am going to try to get this one running for nostalgia sake!

Congrats! Bring us along on this journey... Let us know what you need to bring her active again. See if it brings back the old memories.

Be careful of that ASA assembly O-ring. They are apparently hard to source. As an alternative you can have it milled for more commonly available O-rings. Perhaps an actual expert can chime in on this.

You guys let a newbie with 1 post snag this thing? I am disappointed! ...OK, actually, I am just jealous

Welcome to the forum, and if you've been playing since 2003 then you have found a new home here. Now you need to start a rebuild thread so we can all drool along as you get it back up and running again.

I think I am partially deaf in one ear thanks to Lurchness Monster firing one over my shoulder. Oh wait, no, that's right, he fixed that for me; now I am just deaf in both ears.

If its any consolation, Ive been here since early 2000s...just didnt have access to old email to get back on that account! But I have been retired. I am worthy of the Vector. My Sheridans, Blazer, Sniper and many others will be brought out soon as well.

In that case, welcome back! We've had two forum software changes since then, so your old account doesn't exist anymore unless you re-registered in 2020

I'm trying to remember but I think the model C's had the push button safety and the bottom line style grip. The grip is model c but the safety is the lever so maybe model A/B? Drum told me once that if you can't fit a credit card in the gaps then it's a model A/B. Apparently the C's had pretty bad gaps especially between the ASA and body.

the model A has the feed much more forward, it had issue so they converted a bunch to model B spec (they called them A/B)
The model C had a much fancier molded grip, some people added asa mounting holed on them, but i do not believe any ever came out of the factory with a bottomline ASA.

Does this mean all the early forum posts were lost? Like the Alexandria library?

Yes. Maybe. Carter had a backup, but making it accessible would be time consuming and not so simple as it sounds. I'm not saying he won't do it, but no promises.

Meanwhile we've been digging treasures out of archive.org here and there.

I just snagged an extra factory barrel so I can try to modify it to work with inserts. I will also be doing the valve body mod to make it utilize standard orings. If anyone has more info on this, that would be very helpful!

Are you going to cut and thread the barrel?

I cannot recall if the pneumatics require the barrel support so I am likely going to make the stock barrel accept freak barrel inserts.

So you will drill and bore form the front and have a threaded retainer?
I think Doc made some Nelson like that.
