That's weird, my Bosch seems to happily eat anything. There is an easily cleanable filter in the bottom that makes a big difference in cleanliness if it clogs up. It twist locks right out and rinses in the sink pretty easily.

TBH we are as confused about it too. She had purchased another one just a year or so before that was supposed to be "the best" one according to Consumer Reports. She loves them. It was fancy as hell, all stainless inside, just a super nice machine (to look at). It did extremely poorly so she went with this Bosch that is supposedly among the "best" current dishwashers and it just doesn't do well. She has tried various soaps, rinses, even had a repairman out to look at it because it seemed too out of character for two machines in a row to act like this.

Water temp is big, so is water hardness, and the trickiest thing is having a proper "trap loop" on the drain hose so it doesn't backflow.

Also, gnomes and gremlins and ghouls. They seem to like major appliances.

you know, come to think of it, she did have to have the water tank replaced a few months back and she hasn't discussed the issue since then

We have a Bosch and it is an absolute beast. Quite, cleans anything you put in it and looks great. Never had any issues and was easy to install.
