Question, why do ppl remove the price?

After there marker, parts or whatever they sold. They remove the price.
why? Would it not be better to leave it for others that searching and maybe looking to sell something similar.

Yes, it would. Prices are probably removed because they want to make it clear an item is sold, and they aren't receiving messages about it after the fact. The one place nearly everyone will look before they message is the price.

This has been discussed recently and people has requested prices be left on things to act as a price guide. I’ve got a few times for sale and when they sell I note the price. Most my sales are bought locally but it’s at least a general guide for the value of an item and may help other prices things in the future. I still get a lot of gear that I have no idea what the value is and can’t find any comparators.

I like seeing what things sell for, even if I’m not selling anything. It’s nice to have a means to track trends in what equipment is popular in a point of time.

This topic has popped up a couple of times every year. A great way to do it is to change the font color of the price to something lighter yet still visible. Then in bold, type SOLD!, or something akin. I can't find a strike through feature here on the new version. That was the best thing to do over the price. But at minimum put SOLD in there next to the price in the original post.

This has been a hot topic before, where we debated the removal of both price history and the removal of the pictures, and both sides had their reasons to either remove details, or keep them.

I get that some folks don't want to be constantly bothered later with questions, but man, it still seems a shame when the mcb collective here loses the price history, or cool photos, especially if the thing being sold is rare, or unique!

All that said , the poster can do what they want with their listing. All we can do is try to convince that there is value to leaving the details posted up!

In addition to people who can’t read trying to buy it again years later...

                    1) because people are weird. Like how people blur their license plates in photos of their car. I’ve never heard a good explanation for this...they just do it. It’s some kind of cultural thing...

                    2) Because many people who sell guns have more guns to sell and they want the highest price possible. If they have two of something they hope to get more for the next one than the last one and they don’t want evidence of its actual worth keeping the price where it is. When a guy says “they only made six of these and I have all six” you can expect this behavior and you’ll never get an apology.

Blurring a plate is to mitigate against doxing - both for yourself and others. This is lost on people who are not aware of how much personal information can be obtained through databases that have been leaked.

If I haven’t been doxed by a road rager in an F-250 by now with my plate visible everywhere I go tor years on end then isn’t going to happen when I post a picture of my car online. I don’t buy that explanation. MILLIONS of people have seen my plate because it isn’t a secret.

I also have yet to hear a good excuse as to why people with pickups always back into parking spots. It’s something passed down from one generation to next and followed workout thinking about it, I’m pretty convinced at this point.

Possibly makes sense if you have hateful trolls after you on a messageboard or other social media that you somehow allow access to see your photos or whatever.

Makes no sense on Craigslist which is anonymous anyways

Same reason people butter their Pop tarts.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

I'd love to see a rule that BST threads must be left with the price after being sold. Also +1 to leaving the pictures. Price and pictures for comparison to future gear sales is a valuable thing for the community to have.

I always leave the price and pics up on my listings so others can use it as a reference for the future. I appreciate the guys who have done that in the past. It's made things easier for me when figuring out going rates for items.
