Michael Collins, the third member of the Apollo 11 crew, has passed away at age 90.

Funny to think how easy it is to dismiss him as the guy that didnt get to land on the moon. Meanwhile this guy had to fly around he moon by himself all day and in radio black out for 45 minutes at a time . That is pretty serious business right there.
Then there is the accomplishments of Gemeni 10. Man, these dudes were legends. Rest in Peace.

No joke. To have the guts to allow someone to strap your butt to the tip of a glorified ICBM and shoot you into orbit around another world takes more balls than I will ever have.

I've been reading his book recently so this came as a surprise. He really was one of the understated heroes of the space program. Rest in peace.
