    Paintball time capsule

I recently was contemplating which paintball gun(s) to keep around for my son, which caused me to ponder this mental exercise:

If you had to pick one paintball gun to seal in a time capsule for 50-100 years, for a future generation, what would it be?

    Why?

I'm leaning towards a Phantom. Just a solid, maintenance free gun to keep the pump dream alive.

A sweet Autococker. Maybe they will go out of style and disappear, but they are like muscle cars. Built it fast, built it to cruise, or anything in between. Lots of moving parts, interesting to see it work. Most new guns you can’t see any functions. Just pull trigger, ball shoots, nothing interesting.

Automag. Not only because it’s an iconic gun but also because in 100 years they can open the time capsule & immediately start playing with it.

This is precisely what I came here to say. Just leave a copy of the technical specs for producing replacement regulator seats.

Definitely a Tippmann 98. I don't think any gun has ever been so omnipresent or well known. And it'd probably still work when you dig it back up too.

Second the vote on the Tippmann 98. No other marker has introduced more people to paintball than any other. And in 50-100 years it be dug up and continue its mission.

I feel like a Talon would preserve a very specific time & flavor.

homerj nailed it. The Automag will spring to life with a few drops of oil in the ASA, if kept in a container that prevents the urethane seals from drying out. Mine literally didn't see the light of day sitting in my gear bag for 20 years and a new AGD seals kit had it functioning like it had last been used the day before in 20 minutes.

Not to mention that as the original blowforward it is the ancestor of all spoolies.

The Automag: Not as clumsy or random as an electro. An elegant marker for a more civilised age.

I'd have to agree with the Tippmann 98 and/or Automag as well.

As much as I love Cockers, anyone digging that up in 50 years would look at it and go "WTF is this mechanical nightmare?" after which parts would promptly start falling off of it.

Totally with you on the cockers…had to rule them out right away.

Minimag. As long as they have some reference for how the game was played, anyone in a hundred years will think, "this looks simple, logical, and well thought out". Plus it has probably the best name of any paintball marker.

In reality you need to leave two, can’t have a shoot out without another gun, so I nominate a Bushmaster and a 98.
not only will two people have a blast, but we can start what’s better semi or pump? conversation at the same time.

Excellent point! It should be two. And I was also debating pump or semi….so why not both!?

Completely factory stock first editions of: Angel, Autococker, Automag, Sniper II, Phantom (ok maybe later version with removable and non Daisy style trigger frame), and Emek. Oh and a Spyder. Oh and M98.
