It was the Boogaloos who wore Hawaiian but they seem to have gone away for the most part. Black and yellow are the proud bois colors.

Hawaiian shirts plus tactical gear is the uniform of people advocating for widespread white supremacist violence generally but not specifically adopted by one particular group. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boogaloo_movement

the media spreads FUD and sensationalism - wear what you want and if someone self identifies as taken in by it all then politely educate themOriginally posted by Carp

Related: Earlier this year I built an RC car that I realized a week or two later looked…kind sorta inspired by a certain sort of flag that used to fly over courthouses in the south until very recently. This was very disappointing as I thought I had a good design. It wasn’t an overall good design though. If you draw a portrait of someone and it looks like it says “go to hell” if you look at it in a mirror then it’s not really the best possible design, knowwhatimsayin?
When I realized this I had similar thoughts to the original poster and I changed the decals slightly to reduce the resemblance.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think anyone is going to try to get my accidentally racist RC car kicked out of the park. That is not my concern. My main concern is that someone will see the resemblance and try to make friends with me because of it. There are actually a number of hobbies that I DO engage in where here are a lot of dumbdumbs and dirtbags so I’m used to hiding from the rest of the scene. I guess it’s my default reaction at this point.
The Proud Boys (most perfect name ever for a group of big headed babies) as a name will outlast the group. Paintballers in Hawaiian will hopefully outlast them both. Regardless you may want to wear something in addition to the shirt that clearly makes you not a proud boy. Not being a boy would be a good one but obviously that’s easier for some that others.

I live in Vegas too where tons of old people actually wear Hawaiian shirts on the regular and a shit ton of Hawaiian people live here. It's never been an issue.
At the end of the day Idgaf what people think of what I wear. I have a Ahegao face headband I got from a dude on FB and I can tell you that it has drummed up more conversations and offers to buy it than any Sandana or Hormesis ever has. People love the thing, they think it's funny just like I do, and it gives them an in to a conversation about whatever.
Wear what you want.

The problem is its not just the shirt. ITs the whole damn uniform. I wear my Hawaiian with my BDU's and if I get around to switching them off the old busted shirt, my patches as well. In addition to my CC patch (the green and black one) I also like to wear a subdued American flag and a name tape.
Since these chuckleheads became far more mainstream then paintball and the CC, there will be assumptions made.
S'okay, I'm takin' it back.

If you're worried about people making MCB/paintball look bad. Start with the racists and general bigots at the paintball field.
I only play at MCB events now because I'm tired of hearing about how one of the field's sponsored players "r****d that f****t" on the field, or a million and one different racist comments.
I know, not entirely on topic, and will understand if the mods pull this for whatever reason, but I think that is the biggest problem for paintball. If I, as a white man, can't feel comfortable or safe at some of the largest fields in the country. How can I expect my friends who aren't to try it out.
