Payout from ebay - needs a bank account?

So I've just sold something on ebay for the first time in forever, and it basically says it won't pay out unless I have a bank account linked...that's new. Does anyone know what happens if I refuse to link an account? Just, feels a little weird having a merchant tied to my financial institution.

Ebay split with Paypal. So it's no longer used as your payment account through eBay. You can still purchase with PayPal but the funds are sent to your eBay account and transfered to your bank account.

I opened an other bank account just for eBay/PayPal linking. Got a handful of bank accounts now to avoid giving out my 'main' account to third parties.

Any more, bank accounts are like email accounts. It's a good idea to have a few of them.

word to wise. when dealing with paypal and or ebay always make different bank account for it. just in case they need to take money out or and money in. that way if take money out will not drain your main account incase of issue or fraud going on. never have same bank account tied to your main account
