I haven't followed the drivers, but this new car is really interesting. I've been listening to the NASCAR channel of XM radio when I get the chance. The amount of unknowns about it with only about a month before they race is staggering.

Next gen car is really exciting.

With it being closer to touring cars in design, I hope we'll see more road courses over the next few years. Might get a cool blend of NASCAR and V8 Supercars.

you were right! They're running a NASCAR cup car (or maybe a few of them) in the 2023 Le Mans.

So... What's new about the car? It does look a bit more sleek/aerodynamic...

I haven't followed NASCAR in many years. After Dale Sr. passed away I quit watching, save for a small stint (less than a year) maybe 10 years ago.

NASCAR completely redesigned car this year. single nut wheels, too. The goal is to create "better" racing.
The chasis are being built by NASCAR and distributed to teams, so teams no longer have to build/develop chasis departments. There's a whole lot of unknows about how they're going to react to anything. There's been testing done obviously, but most of it is going to be done "on the fly" as teams learn how to utilize them to their liking.
The engines sound good, too with high compression.

In a previous lifetime, I was really into NASCAR. We live all of perhaps 10 (driving) miles to AMS. The way sound travels we can hear them practice and test, which has been going on a lot lately. I would have to say that I have enjoyed the side show in the parking and camping areas as much if not more than the race itself.
When NASCAR opted to turn its back on the roots and history of the sport a couple of years ago, alongside the 'no fighting' aspect led me to be disinterested.

Yup, used to be a big fan but they lost me with a lot of their rules changes.

I grew up in the town next to Loudon, NH where the race track is and I used to work there in the summers to make money for our football program. That was enough to make me hate NASCAR.

I know/care much more about NASCAR than I ever hoped to thanks to a Fantasy League I am in with some friends. We pick 3-driver teams for the season then face off each week against another team - 8 teams total. Rode a Hamlin/Blaney/Newman trio to first in the league (Blaney fell in my lap on draft day) then stole Kyle Larson for the playoffs and won it all. I had been the worst owner in league history until that bit of luck...

In my own race car photography I've run into a bit of an artistic issue. Nice bright day, nice bright lens, and the shutter speed is so fast the darn car looks like it's parked instead of racing around the track. So, is it better artistically to aim for the super sharp freeze in time, or to slow down the shutter a bit risking losing a bit of sharpness in the car to gain some motion blur on the tires to get the sense of motion?

I am not a photographer but I appreciate a lot of art and it seems that, while there was a time when getting the perfect shot required a lot of skill and some luck, modern technology makes ultra-technical shooting easy to "buy" this making it less impressive. Also, given NASCAR cars are best when goin' fast, capturing them in their element adds to the meaning of the photo.
