Budget Ultrasonic Cleaner Recommendations

I've got a sled with a carb that had decade+ old gas in it and I'm looking to clean it up. Any recommendations? Not something that will be used all that frequently.

Bought this one for cleaning brass for reloading and it's held up well for two years.

I've got a Harbor Freight Tools one like this (mine looks like the one in pictures 2-4). Princess Auto has basically the same one, though surprisingly a bit more expensive. The HFT one is $85 USD, which is about $110 CAD, and HFT almost always has 20% off coupons.

I have the HF one, its okay. the cavitation is not super strong. You never know what transducers you get, their strength, longevity. I also have an ebay one you can buy cheap from me. it works about the same as the HF but smaller. my HF has been choochn' for years

Yeah, no doubt the HFT one is kind of meh. I probably paid less than $50 for mine years ago with sales/coupons. For that price it's not too bad, but I wouldn't mind something nicer/bigger (who doesn't?).

I am also curious to get more opinions. I went to a buddies, and he showed me his cleaner. Ive wanted a cleaner since.

Now he had the harbor freight one mentioned above, but he said the transducer wasnt strong enough. The basket is also very small.

He also had this unit, and we used this unit to clean a bunch of my parts that day.

It worked really well, and was big enough we were able to dip my sheridan body in the bath and clean half, then flip and clean the other.


I almost bought one of these 6l units, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I've got the 6L one. I use it for my AR parts as well as cleaning watch parts. I use water in the tank and then I put usually am empty peanut butter jar filled with simple green and the parts in it.

i have a Branson 8210 that i got from work. i think it has 6 or 8 transducers.
i put my ceramic bbq briquets in it to clean them. they were a little older and so i was ok if it didnt work out.

it turned them all to mush. like when a wave hits a sand castle at the beach. they just melted... lol

its pretty big and takes up more space than id like.
anyone close to NY/NJ/PA that has interest?

this is a good reference video and there is also one out there where the guy uses gasoline as a solvent. using the Vevro cleaners

i started out with the harbor freight cleaner and it worked very well. with the built in heater it really cut through grime. it just took longer than it should. i used it for mountain bike parts.
for a minimal investment, you can start with the HF unit and see if you use it enough to buy a bigger better one.
