Yeah, always a shock to hear about something like this. Along the lines of getting checked...esophageal cancer can be detected in much the same way, my Mother in-law passed within a year from that. Get a scope at both ends, the colon and esophagus are virtually the same.

I hope they are not using the same scope for both end or at least make sure they check top one first...

Unfun fact. There's a valve between the esophagus and the stomach that I simply do not have anymore. This gives me chronic heart burn (GERD), and lead to enough scar tissue that my esophagus required surgery to open up in order for me to eat food again. A complication of GERD was my body changing the tissue type that grows in my esophagus, called Barrett's esophagus. This elevated my risk of esophageal cancer from 1 in 125 over my lifetime (same for all you US guys) to, conservatively, 1 in 20 for getting it within 8 years from the diagnosis. There was a six-fold increase in the rate of cancer occurrence for Barrett's patients from 1975 to 2001, making it the most rapidly rising rate of cancer occurrence.

I'm sorry to hear that Siress. Barrett's is often referred to as stage 1 esophageal cancer. Are you on a regular follow up plan with your own Doctor? On a side note for anyone who has been on antacids for years like Pepcid you may also have Barrett's. It's always a good conversation to have with your GP.

Just saw this in the news, heartbreaking I watched Black Panther with my son last year and we loved it was hoping to see more of him in MCU, but of course the personal loss is the greater tragedy, so young

Maintaining the muscle mass he did I had no idea he was combatting anything. This is tragic news, he was a great actor and I was looking forward to more stuff from him, and he was way too young.

21 Bridges and Message from the King are also good ones. Dude was great. Knowing now what he was going through, I'd like to check out his older stuff, before the cancer.
