    snake eggs

Early this summer, I was clearing up fallen limbs from around the yard. At the edge of the yard was a old fallen pine tree that had decomposed to the point of being of a mulch constancy, While I was digging into it moving it farther from the edge of the yard, I found these:

I knew they were snake eggs, but I did not know what kind. I have always had a interest in wild life, and I wanted to know what snakes were currently around the yard, so I set this up on the back porch.

Well a couple of weeks ago I found these moving around the tank one night.

I ended up with 7 beautiful Eastern King snakes. The webs say they are suspect of being endangered. I really can't think of a better snake to have around the yard.
Yes I did turn them loose.

Righteous. Snakes are cool, and very helpful.

And I thought this was going to be a food topic. Cool either way, though.

Looks like an eastern king snake. I had one for about 10 years. Great snakes, keeps mice and other poisonous snakes away.

Nice. I think hurricane Harvey washed a lot of our snakes out for a while. Just this month have we started seeing different snakes around again.

We get both the Scarlet king snakes and Coral snakes, so people get excited. We have the same problem between puff adders and copperheads. We are in a well populated area near the bayou, so it's part of the neighborhood.

It's not too late to make an omlet... the eggs are just harder to scramble after they hatch.

Cool find, and good on you for hatching them. King Snakes are a healthy snake to have around.
If you need to talk, I will listen. Leave a message and I will call you back as soon as I get it.
