    That is insane. Wow.

    Probably not nearly as impressive, but I used to make chickens go absolutely berserk hitting them with the LRAZ laser rangefinder at about half that distance.

      Interesting fact ~ The Hubble space telescope has over 100 cameras on it and 80% of those point back at earth, including the one called "the four shooter" that can read a credit card on the ground from orbit and it was designed by Jim Rugg, who used to build props for the original Star Trek series.
      I picked that up from a book called "first light" by I think Paul Davies. It was about the search for the farthest stars we could find. Had an entire chapter devoted to Hubble.

        I'm pretty sure none point to earth. The hubble orbit is not geosynchronous so it would be impossible to focus on anything whizzing by at 1000 mph

          I think you're thinking of the Hale telescope's four-shooter. Not sure about the rest...
