Oh hell no. Maybe if I had that goose that lays golden eggs. Seen a few of these where Japanese ppl pay crazy prices for stuff. Like grapes, strawberries and guy that paid record price for blue fin tuna.

Theres a ton that goes into those melons, or Japanese fruit in general. My friends over there tell me that buying produce to cook sucks, since every fruit and vegetable is from a special orchard, so everything is expensive. Not like here in the states where you can just buy an apple for like .40 cents. 90% of the time it's cheaper to eat out they say.
Those farmers typically only grow one type of fruit, and they really take care of them. Perfect shading and trimming of leaves, making sure the fruits are supported and get the perfect amount of light.
They don't look at those super expensive ones as a snack either, they use them as gifts. Generally when those super expensive ones are sold they aren't even eaten by the person who purchased them.
That being said, I've heard great things about the strawberries. But I know for a fact they won't compare to the ones I had in Norway. A little girl was selling them on the side of the road up in the mountains. They were grown in high altitude so they were super small. But man, when that bus door opened the entire bus filled with the scent of strawberries. I'll tell you what, I still think about those strawberries 11 years later. They were the sweetest ones I've ever tasted, candy sweet.
