This... thing came in a lot of holster parts I picked up. Does anyone know what it is? The "tube" section feels like aluminum, and he cap twists off and houses a hex wrench. I'm totally stumped.

It seems a lot like their safety tool for the 10/22 makes, but I can't find one that looks exactly like that.
Any idea what that rifle they made that stored in the stock was called?

It looks like the forend from the 10/22 takedown model.

It looks like a bolt shroud for a Precision based off my search. I’ll ask my brother if his Precision came with something like that.

I think it's this! Looks like there was a recall on this part too... Heading to the bin!

My brother did send his rifle back for bolt related work sometime ago. Maybe it was related to that part.

Just spoke to him, he got his rifle back a few weeks ago. Something within the bolt assembly had broken. Ruger took it in and made it right. That’s all he said, he couldn’t extract the bolt himself so he had to ship the whole rifle. Sadly no pics of the failed part.

Could be related. I did a little more reading - they had a recall and shipped replacement shrouds for any guns in a certain serial range. This one is actually the replacement shroud and not the original (problematic) one; you can tell by a small dimple behind the bolt latch.

I guess I have to buy a Ruger Precision Rifle now...? That's how this works, right?
