    BiCycle Jousting

I think I want to start an Ottawa BiCycle Jousting club.

Ask a local paintball field to use space for a day.

    Draw up rules.

    How dos that sound?

I'd do it similar to bike polo or even do bike polo instead.

        My suggestions for rules for jousting;

Have everyone use a fixed gear bike
If you put a foot down you lose
Set a standard for the jousting pole and make everyone follow it. I'd set material for pole, length, amount of padding required, maybe even a weight range
Decide on a protective gear rule. What is required and what is optional

We used to play a game on BMX as kids called "foot down". No physical striking of your opponent, no ramming. Pushing (with the foot) any part of their bike was fair game except directly to the handlebar or wheels. Quite fun.

We used to fill grocery bags with chesnuts still in their spiky husks and bungee cord the bags to our handlebars... we called the game cops and robbers, but it was really just a mad house free for all of neighborhood kids riding around throwing spikeballs at each other.

Not nearly as cool as the naked jousting with coals shown in the picture, though. That picture, with no explaination, should be the only thing found in the Rules section...
If you need to talk, I will listen. Leave a message and I will call you back as soon as I get it.

Does the jousting come before or after the sword fight? Will the bicycles have seats?

My thoughts are that what Mar puts on his would more likely be called a straddle.

I think we've all heard too much on Mar's BDSM proclivities.

We do a variation of "foot down" in my neck of the woods called "Bike Sumo"

2 riders start opposite each other in a 20 -25' ring on the ground. First one to be pushed out of the ring, or pushed to the ground loses.
Best of 3 bouts advances to the next round, until you get down to the finals, then its best of 7 rounds for the monthly winner.
Almost anything goes but feet must remain on pedals/hands on handlebars. I've headbutted, shoulder checked, and wheelied my front tire into faces to win it all before.
Copious amounts of beer are consumed before, during and always after naturally.
This follows a monthly ride around the city at night (usually there is a theme- that correlates to the holiday of the month) Christmas, 4th of July, Silly hats, etc.
Here is a little video i found, Bike Sumo starts around 1:34

I would bike joust if I was local, now that I have decent insurance. I envy our northern neighbors' healthcare!

We used to play a game in the garage when mom would go grocery shopping for a few hours. Dodgeball on roller blades, but with superballs/bouncy balls and racquet ball paddles to launch them at each other. It had to be indoors so the balls could be recovered and used for hours. We were young, this was before I played paintball, but the resulting bruises were similar.

We had a name for it. It was an ignorant name that you can't use now in 2020.
