Electric Clothes Dryer

Hi! Time to replace ours, made it 24 yrs and 2+ months. Any repair people out there? What do you recommend? Thanks!

samsung appliances are known for electrical gremlins, and they offer little to no support. Often times they quit using parts and also stop manufacturing them so they're unrepairable.

It doesn't dry well. The washer is crap too, poorly designed and has lots of spots that harbor mold. Next time I'm going LG.

I’d probably say a used speed queen basic type.

Or even repair yours. Each of mine have gotten progressively worse so I found semi industrial speed queens and am gunna keep them going till it makes absolutely no sense.

Go on craigslist and buy an old one with no circuit board or BS features you don't need.

Every appliance That has failed on me in the last 20 years has been a circuit board.Old solid state appliances are nearly bulletproof and easy to fix. I repaired and old dryer with a bottle cap and got another 12 years out of it.

Avoid any smart electronic dryer, that will not last 24yrs. Whirlpool and Maytag are the best for finding parts, and information to repair. I was able to rebuild our whirlpool washer transmission in an afternoon. Take a look at the Maytag commercial grade residential line.

Speed Queen or bust! American made full stainless drum, classic dials no stupid settings or Electric boards to go bad all mechanical with the exception of the drum motor.

I won’t buy anything but a Speed Queen. You will pay a lil more but it’s a commercial grade dryer. It’s going to be one and done. They are made to last and are repairable if you ever have an issue. Very classic simple design.

As a former Appliance Repair Tech I will tell you the only ones made decent these days is Speed Queen and the Whirlpool ones with the lint screen out the top. Those are the only ones I would recommend,the rest are absolute crap by comparison

Speed queen, I have had nothing but issues with other brands. Bought a Speed Queen and have had zero issues since. It's the only brand I will buy.

father in law has 2 speed queens.
was soooo excited to get them and not have to deal with anything.

wellll, it didnt quite work out the way he thought it would. both needed repairs. hes had the case off the dryer a few times and the washer now needs a hub assy. (after replacing a few other parts).

i think its a crap shoot these days.

our GE dryder is OK but the gap between the drum and the housing catches basketball short draw strings and gets all tangled up.

left a ket in my pocket and it made its way in there as well.

still works though but the "smart eco dry" thing is a joke.

That’s why you buy mechanical ones. With the classic click dials. You don’t need steam settings and special fluff settings. You need hot medium and low settings and dry times. It’s not rocket science.

Got a maytag stackable and they work, but I've had to replace the front panel with the buttons on both units. The buttons would stick and it would sound like Mario music as it would just randomly change all the settings by itself. Luckily neither of them managed to turn themselves on. Not today, robots!

What exactly is your old Dryer doing that you feel it needs replacement? I might be able to walk you through a repair and save you some money

Maybe the starter motor, it was a little slow starting and now will just hum, not start spinning. 24 yr old Maytag. About 7-8 yrs ago I replaced the belt and drum rollers
