How to download a video from YouTube

I suspect this is going to be surprisingly easy, but how do you download a video from YouTube to your computer?

We offer a class twice a month on how to use a fire extinguisher. (Yes, I know... How hard is it to shoot off a fire extinguisher? Some departments on campus require proof that you have at least been shown how to use one.) We like showing a video of somebody actually using a fire extinguisher on a fire. Okay so far.

But connectivity in the training room we use is not dependable. So, we would like to download the video to the laptop we use in the training room.

I had found a site that said all I have to do is add "SS" in front of YouTube in the video address. Electronics do not always like me, so the computer gods nixed this simple solution.

So my questions is this: How do I do this?

    Thanks,
    Un2xs

You're best using an online converter. Something like: https://iyoutubetomp4.com/en2/

Or just type in: Youtube to Mp4 in your favorite search engine.

I used the link above just yesterday to download a clip so I can put it on my phone.

Thankyou. This worked for me. The other options I had found were some kind of peer to peer software that was banned by our IT overlords.

This will make it much easier to show the video for training. (And give the company some free advertising for as often as they say their name.)

I love the wide knowledge base MCB has. Chances are there is somebody on here who knows an answer.... or knows the guy who knows the answer.

I use 4k video downloader. It also lets you just grab the audio.

I just point my VHS camcorder at my monitor and hit the red record button!

Sometimes the brute force method is the easiest. :-)

Any of the youtube to mp4 converters work fine. Some have some pretty aggressive ads, but thats to be expected.

You used to be able to get some great browser extensions to automate the process, like "download helper", but since the people that own the app store, also owns youtube, started blocking them. Still handy for putlocker for those shaky-cam versions of Top Gun Maverick. lol
