My older boy has been having a lot of fun rooting for the Canes. Of course, it’s a school night, so he’s in bed. But he’ll be happy to hear the result in the morning.

The Toronto/Florida game wasn’t the most fun to watch… Again, I’m a hockey noob, but it seems like there was a number of missed calls in that game. And that one icing call seemed iffy. Or is it just me? Or is this just because “it’s playoff hockey?” As a new viewer, some of this is a little off-putting. Is the regular season like this as well? Or am I reading way too much into this?
I mean, I get that it’s a fast game & stuff gets missed. Understandable. But not calling that stick hold at the end when everyone was watching it really made me raise an eyebrow.
On a brighter note, Woll looked excellent out there considering his experience, or at least I thought he did. He seems to have a lot of potential.

That icing was a bad call. Goalie came out to play it, should have been waved off or face off at centre.
One of NHL’s biggest problems is consistent in rules. “Playoff hockey” has different rules than regular season. Ref let all sorts of stuff go that are penatlies, like holding the stick. Look at the Pietrangrlo from Vegas, he raises his stick above his head and slashed a the Oilers top player in the arm. Clearly intent to injury, that move does not belong in hockey. 1 game suspension only.
It’s good to hear someone new to the sport and thei impression of the games!

That game did seem to be a little tilted, FL got the better of the reffing. Oh well, FL would have won anyways.
There have been some playoff games in the past that ended in downright controversy! Usually the league fixes the rule and continually gets better. A couple I can think of: SJ hand pass goal vs STL, and SJ's comeback vs Vegas
