    Pocket PC to Anderoid?

At work we use a Pocket PC MC55. Long story short... can these be made to use the Android operating system?

Longer version: Microsoft is apparently discontinuing support for Pocket PC and its Windows Mobile Device Center. I do not know if that means it will be pulled from further Windows upgrades or if it will just no longer be supported and allowed to fail when Windows evolves. If you know, please let me know.

Our software vendor has developed both Android and IOS versions. We need a laser scanner based solution. Photo interpolation just doesn't cut it... it requires perfect bar codes in very good lighting at near distances.

    Thanks for any input.

In a very general sense "dropping support" means that the product will no longer receive updates, tech support, or have components available to download from the "official" site.
I assume that for a short time you likely won't even notice, but as time goes on compatibility issues or security issues may arise within other component factors, say for instance loading the data on to a PC, etc.

I cannot speak specifically to your device as I am not familiar with it. Since the vendor has created Android and iOS versions of the software needed, do they also have suggested hardware listed?

Yes... to the tune of about $2,000 to replace each of the scanners we have. Another vender can set us up for $650-$850. However, I am not sure if those are new or refurb
