    Internet Archive - WayBack Machine

I just came across a YouTube video about the Internet Archive's court battle:

Do any of you have further knowledge or thoughts on this subject? Apparently the suit was initiated due to the unauthorized archive and loan of copyrighted books. It's possible that the IA will have to divest themselves of certain materials.

I'm surprised it took this long for someone to complain

I can't count the number of hours I spent on warpig as a kid. When I found MCB I kinda hoped Bill was hiding around here somewhere.

Yeah that wasn't a great move by IA, pandemic or not. Loans need to be tied to some kind of effective license or it is basically piracy.

Whether copyright law is a good thing as it exists is another discussion.

I vaguely recall this being even more disastrous for libraries, the ruling on this court case. Since so much material is becoming digital it could be very challenging for libraries in the future.
I haven't followed the case so I'm not sure if that's still true or not. I loved my library growing up.
