I am pretty glad I got out of this game awhile back. There is NO WAY a random person is going to get this card. Their only goal is emptying their fans wallets into their bank accounts as quickly as possible. Ex Employees have indicated that they have done internal polling that indicates the vast majority of their customer base is driven by gambling addiction, and people prone to gambling addictions and they have gone to great lengths to cover up these studies and continue to prey on their own customer base more and more.

That's not some deep, dark secret. Every person above the age of 12 understands there's a gambling aspect to trading cards. That they're equivalent to a scratchoff ticket.

Reminds me of the Mc D's monopoly game where the guy kept sending the winning game pieces to friends

    Effective marketing ploy.

My son and I will occasionally play, maybe look at a new set and seet if it's interesting enough to buy a deck or two but that's about it.

Yup, done with the Wizards of the Coast. Between my daughter, son in-law and grandson we have more cards then we need if we get the urge to play but so far we have not played in 2 years and all of us are tired of their greed games.

The “one ring” 1 of 1 card is also only available as part of their collector boosters which are like $30ea. But I bet most people won’t read that and will buy all the set boosters as well.

when MicroProse made the MTG video game ... 25yrs ago* ... the WOTC folks came from out west to the studio in Hunt Valley, MD. to work directly with the team on it. Let me just say that all the negative stereotypes about MTG players have their roots in the creators of that game. One of them had to be told to shower, with soap and shampoo, daily, or they would not be let in the building. I am not joking when I say that you could smell that person coming down the hallway long before you saw them.

*fuck that memory of that time made me feel old. anyhow, apparently I have leveled up and now I am one of those folks who prattles on about 'well back in my day!" kinds of ways

Not just that. While I've never played MTG, and I never will, I've walked past the MTG section at Anime cons before and Gah Damn..... don't get me wrong, there's some nasty peeps at anime cons, like signage was made to remind goers to take showers. But that card hall was something else.

I wonder if there's just a point you become nose blind.

I saw a post on FB about a Japanese Jpop Idol writing hand written instructions on how to shower before her event. Guess there's just stinky peeps all over the place.

So is there just one "One Ring" card period, or is it just one printing of this fancy version with the Tolkien writing?
Because it seems like a bunch of the cards in this set are built specifically to interact with this thing.

From my understanding just one printing of that art. But other one ring cards should exist.

Apparently the owner is at potentially at risk of having this card seized by the Canadian government because this is an illegal lottery.

At least Hasbro isn't sending the Pinkertons to his house to seize it.
