Wouldn’t mind finding a VCK or Mozak slide for this… I’m pretty sure I missed out on the Mozak as I don’t do BookFace.

Anyone got a picture of the Mozak slide? I wonder how much it would cost to have one made that looks like an oversized 1911. I think that would be cool.

I don't think they have launched yet. I don't have Facebook either but occasionally just Google Mozak Machines and you can still see the first couple of Facebook posts without an account lol. Now that I found a boxgun I will probably be backing off the hunt for the Mozak version.

Yeah I picked it up in a trade. I was going to put it on my Carter Duck but decided to leave my Duck original. Still want to build something with it. Probably mod a Phantom valve to fit it with an ASP body.

Yeah the Mozak kits have not gone live yet, I talked to him briefly a few weeks ago and he said that the dimensions were a problem on his current mill, so he is still working on it.

From what I remember hearing from duckslide owners is they were chop city due to the feed not properly lining up with the breech when pumped. I was looking into doing a phantom to duckslide conversion quite a few years ago and was advised against it. ymmv

No it’s because the feed is attached to the slide handle so the ball rolls on the body and the feed racks back and forth with the pump action. Not because it’s miss aligned. Most are cutting them to attach directly to the main body just like a phantom. After that that’s feed phenomenal. If you look at Brian’s his is clearances so the feed stays fixed to and don’t move like a Phantom.

You can adjust the length of the pump arm to get it to line up. The real issue with them is that the feed is mounted to the slide. When you pump a ball goes in the breech and then a 2nd sits just into the body. When you bring the pump forward again, it pinch’s and breaks that 2nd ball.

You have to rock forward, pump back, then rock back to clear that 2nd ball and then bring the slide forward again. It takes getting used to, but it’s do-able.

Or you can have the top milled so the feed mounts to the breech instead, then it pumps like a regular phantom

the feed to breach lines up perfectly, the issue is that there is an extra ~1/4" that the ball has to drop when the feedtube is mounted to the slide. milling the slide so the feedtube can attach directly to the phantom body within eliminates this problem.

i had asked Justin if the feedtube moves with the slide and he said no.
BUT now that im looking at those pictures closer, i think maybe the only part that does move is the lower, "ribbed" section.
so, more boxgun than duck style

Oh interesting so the lower half only moves?

it looks like it. especially since the feedtube is not supposed to move with the action. doesnt look like the slide rides 'over' the feedtube so, i assume the top of the kit attaches to the body and functions as the feed and is stationary. there looks like a gap where the bottom half begins, and the fields Justin plays at host those SoCal Stock guys. Theres a few of them shooting Carter Box Guns, so im thinking thats where the design is based.

Had one. Beautiful to look at, made by ODD called the "Island Duck".
    Absolute horrorshow to use.

I found it way too heavy in the front end, making aimpoint hard to hold, and internal "pinch-points" could bind under stress.

I think I was looking into the one made by "Mongo" if I remember correctly. Again it was many years ago. And yes, JeepDVLZ45 nailed the explanation on why these end up chopping paint.

Last time I needed a duck slide was for my duck clone that I built because the original slide was destroyed. I ended up contacting vkc myself directly and was able to order a replacement slide and he said he had a few but that was a couple years ago so I'm not sure if he still has any you could try that route.

so, with these, and all boxguns, is everything forward of the breech just deadspace/solid in the toptube?

I never owned a box gun. But I imagine it would make sense to hog the extra material out of it and make it less front heavy. Not sure if that’s the case or not. I like that he’s going to add the dove tail for sights on top.

Dan at paintball history has a article on Mongo, and has the old website archive link.

Worth a look if you're interested.
