Does anyone make a tank reg extender with rotation capability?

I’m thinking tank reg extender with a rotating “bonnet” like Ninja Pro V regs.

Im spoiled with Pro V regs on my 68/4500’s for higher volume, faster paced games, but want to use 13/3000’s for pump and mag-fed.

I don’t want to deal with hydro on the 13/15/17 /4500 tanks available. I have a 17/4500 and it’s a bit too long. The 13/3000’s are a bit too short but don’t need hydro. I use a tank reg extender but then I can’t rotate the fill nipple away from my wrist. I don’t want to buy Pro V regs for all of my 4 13/3000’s.

I know. I’m picky. But I want what I want.

Anyway, I see the possibility for a rotation-capable tank reg extender in as little as 4 machined pieces, 4-6 bonnet set screws, and 4-5 orings.

    Does anyone currently produce one?

Do you think there’d be any interest?

I wanted to model up a concept at work before posting but didn’t have time.

Never seen one. But you could use an existing reg extender plus these

Do those work? I thought people had issues with them since they don’t allow the face of the tank reg to bottom out in the ASA - wobble and eventually deformed threads.

I thought of doing something similar with shims between the bonnet and regulator so long as everything sealed up and still plenty of thread engagement between bonnet and reg.

Shims are just a pain though. I’d rather have infinitely adjustable rotation with set screw lock down.

I use these on a 12g dropout changer to orient it downward and haven't had any issue. It still bottoms out, just against between the shoulder behind the threads and the back of the ASA vs the bonnet face and bottom of the ASA as is typical.

So use the shims between the extender and the ASA.

Or just go old school and drop a o ring in the asa that will prevent them extender from bottoming out and therefore change the position of the fill nipple

I think the cost to manufacture these may be close to or greater than the cost difference between a standard Ninja reg and a pro reg.

It'd definitely be cool to see though. I'd be a buyer at maybe $30 but I'm not sure that covers the cost to produce.

Trbo323 - Tried that. It only works for certain ASA’s with air passage holes close to centerline of the ASA. The shims or oring constrict the air hole on other ASA’s, where the air passage hole is further from centerline. In the case of my Empire Sniper, where the reg bottoms out on the brass hex piece, the shims just don’t work. But again, a major point of this is to not have to use shims.

tyronejk - I was thinking of cost too. I’m guessing they’d be closer to $50-60. Basic Empire reg is $30. Is there an option to buy just the 13/3000 bottle? Regardless, a single $50-60 part is better than multiple Pro V ($85+) vs Basic Empire ($30).

A simple locking collar will do the trick. I’d be willing to bet most of the asa extenders available have enough threads to use the locking collar from a gas through stock and this would accomplish what you are looking for.

Chappy Do you have a link to an example? Thanks.

Powerhouse makes an extended tank reg with a rotational bonnet. That's the most similar item I can think of to what you're describing.

I assume you meant Powerhouse? I don’t feel comfortable Googling “lowerho”.

                  Yes exactly.

So pic one shows my gas thru adjustable stock. Pic 2 shows the male asa up close with the locking collar all the way back. Pic 3 shows it quite a bit forward for reference. The point here being that you put the locking collar back as in pic 2 , screw into the asa until at the appropriate point, the put the locking collar forward against the asa and tighten so the stock stays in place. This would work the same for orienting a fil nipple as it does a stock.
Id be willing to bet the hex nut locking collar on my stock would fit on an asa extender and function the same. I could be wrong.
If I were designing an adjustable extender on the cheap, this would seem to me the easiest path forward.

Chappy Thanks. Simple jam nut method. Like you said, as long as there is enough thread length on the extender, it should work. The other issue is if there’s enough stroke in the on/off to still open the pin valve sufficiently if the extender isn’t fully threaded into the ASA. Does the jam nut mar up the back face of the ASA?

Not in my experience and I use this on my old Zs which are backbottle direct into the body. If you want it to stay you need to snug it with a wrench so you put yourself in danger of idiot marks. Results may vary but I never had issues
