I suspect that is what actually killed it. On anything but a PC, it simply didn't' work whatsoever for a long, long time. Even now it's suuuuper janky.

There’s a lot of different ways to copy threads and maybe the whole sites threads and data. Could probably run it off a nice pc build running as a server

I tried doing so a couple months back, I was using wget to mirror some sites but it wouldn't work for pbn.

Seems to be loading for me. John was keeping it somewhat relevant after the VerticalScope acquisition, but without him putting up News threads anymore I only visit if I come across an old tech thread related to whatever I am trying to fix.

I agree that Vertical Scope didn't help PBN, but I think the migration to Facebook BST pages and (as others have pointed out) the slow/incomplete transition to mobile accessibility were the two biggest issues. Those took enough traffic away that the rest of the site started to wither, leading to less threads, less moderation, etc. Did Vertical buy it when those things were occurring? I can't remember if they bought it and then traffic fell off a cliff, or if they bought it as it was already on a decline.

I know there is little love lost here for PBN, but (as someone who frequented it for years for anything and everything paintball), I miss it. I find myself significantly less connected to or interested in keeping up with what's going on in paintball now that PBN is a corpse.

It is significantly harder to keep up on paintball news because it's no longer curated at a single source. I'm not going to travel all over facebook groups/instagram pages/ whatever else to find news.

I've often wondered why it's not happening here. We're active, we have a news section.

Somebody has to actually do it, Marts. And this is not something that has to be heaped on any one set of shoulders- anyone see a bit of interesting news? Copy/paste it here. Hear an interesting rumor? Ask it here.

              Doc.

I mean, you mention any modern gun and most members start frothing at the mouth about "space dildos" "peanut butter nation" "back in my day" and whatever other pejoratives you'd like to include lol. Not that surprising industry folks don't bother posting stuff here.
