Curious if any fellow paintball addicts work as a CFOT. I'm considering this career path after getting laid off yet again and saw some courses at the local community college. It seems very interesting, and had questions.
Anyone here a certified fiber optic tech?

I've seen it done before. You can make good money but it can be tedious work. You'll be called to "emergency" situations where the job is expected to be done on the same day.
I'm assuming that most of the job expectations depend a whole lot on your employer. -
Would you go on your own or work for a IT company?
Commercial and residential will be totally different expectations ...Love my brass ... Love my SSR ... Hard choices ...

I use to work with WANs overhead and underground fiber. Hours were shitty, called out every night there was a storm, had to travel all the time. Pay was not as good as you'd imagine. Now I work on LANs pay is better hours are better work is far less intense, don't have to work out in the elements. The low voltage/ network field is very low on trained techs and is very easy to find workGas, Grass or Brass, no one rides for free...Comment
