I went with the Ridge wallet (gift to myself on Father's Day last year) and I absolutely love it. American-made, superior product.

I've had my Carbon Fiber gen 1 ridge for like 8 years and it's perfect. Haven't had to change the straps or anything. I did order a screw kit because I lost one. Just made sure to use some blue loctite to keep it together and haven't had to retighten in like 4 years. I have the og springloaded money clip on mine.

I have a cheapo ridge copycat that has been going strong for years. But if card style isn’t your jam, Tanner Goods makes a really nice bifold. The leather breaks in over time

It was but look at it this way, at 12 years in, I could spend $10 a year or maybe $30 every 3 years in cheaper wallets and be in the same spot I am right now. The longer it lasts the more cost effective it is.

I have a nylon sailcloth wallet from Allett that's been going strong for years. Ripstop sort of material, extremely thin. Just disappears into whatever pocket you put it in.

Best wallet ever! Seriously, I have had mine for 8 years and it barely looks used. Plus I love the minimalist form factor without being a ridgid rig.

I slap this little lycra beauty on the back of my phone, stuff it with my licenses and such, program my phone for contactless payment with my various cards - and keep a physical card with my IDs as backup, trifold some cash in the pocket in case I stumble outside of credit card service, and shove a metal plate in the pocket as well for phone mounts. After doing this, I stopped carrying a wallet. Not exactly sure when that happened... guessing 6 years ago now. My old wallet holds the rest of my cards and cash, and either stays in my car or my laptop bag. I don't think I'll ever carry a traditional wallet again... seems outdated. The only thing I wish these lycra pouches did extra is rfid shielding.

I have brothers and sisters that have gone this route and have tried to convince me this is the best way to go. For me in particular I am not a fan of this solely because I hate being tied to a cell phone. I routinely "forget" my phone <wink, wink> so would be without money and drivers license. I am one of those throwbacks that does not like phones in general and cell phones in particular but if you are someone who always has and knows where their cell phone is then I think this is a smart option.

To each their own - for sure. I think we have a similar disdain, I'm just very blunt with people about choosing not to answer my phone just because they rang. Most of the day it's set not to ring at all unless one of my contacts calls twice in quick succession. Even then, I can have the phone screen the call for me to see if they're calling about something urgent, otherwise text me. It works out for me. I mostly use my phone for everything except phone calls.
