    Sci-fi that doesn’t require a full season

So here I am rewatching the fifth season of “the expanse” wondering are there any sci-fi shows left that get the story told in an hour? Have they all jumped on the survivor/24 bandwagon? Give me some old fashioned Star Trek or star gate. What is still out there that gives the problem and solution in one hour?

Are you wanting to watch something that's currently airing? Or just some other sci-fi shows? ...Like star trek or stargate? Not quite sure what you're looking for.

      currently on air still:
      Orville

Other older shows, have you watched:
      Defiance
      Killjoys
      Falling Skies
      Terra Nova
      Dark Matter
      Extant
      Sliders...might be the winner.

Eureka is a good one for that

Warehouse 13 is less sci-fi but along the same lines of what you are looking for. Chances are if you like eureka you'll like warehouse 13. They actually exist in the same universe and we're put out by the sci-fi channel at the same time. There's a crossover episode in each

Any of the stargates for the most part but I'm just going to assume you have watched those already

Dr. Who if you have never tried it. Dr. Who does have seasons long plots as well but they do a really good job of threading them into the weekly episodes

It's older but there was a show called "7 days". Basically government has a time machine but it can only travel back in time 7 days. Plot is good. Actors are....par. world crisis happens, Frank has to go back in time 7 days to give warning but often doesn't have complete information on what caused the crisis

Absolutely love Eureka and Warehouse 13! Great recommendations.

I’ve really been enjoying Resident Alien, and it’s somewhat episodic. Top-notch comedy for sure. Some good anthology shorts are Black Mirror and Love, Death & Robots. I’m right there with you on wanting a minimum investment in a show and not having to sit through multiple seasons to tie things up.

I had lost hope for star blech for the most part for many years - i always liked it because it filled exactly that 1 hour niche here and there. I found "strange new worlds" to be thoroughly enjoyable, with a great retro feel, campy and also occasionally action packed, with some through lines but always wrapped up nicely at the end of each episode. - just how I liked it back in the day.

Probably not the flavor you're looking for, but Black Mirror is all self-contained episodes and is all near-future sci-fi.
