i have three or four. i have posted a review of the into the breeze flowtail, but i also have a premier flowtail. im working on a tribute kite for someone with it.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUGxYWEW9e8

into the breeze is a budget brand, but the kites work well. the premier branded one is quite a bit nicer though. better brackets for the poles, and the material seems a little bit better.

generally, i really like the flowtails. its kind of a one stop shop, you dont need/want a cool sexy/expensive tail, when you just unpack the thing and its all ready to go. also the lack of a keel makes them great for custom stuff. im making a pizza kite as a tribute to the maul rats, a local roller derby team, and the other one im making as more of a direct tribute, to a partner, who is dying of cancer. the two white ones i bought (and are in the review) and made into a stacker, they are for a burning man art project called "camp the sky" and so they say "the" and "sky" on them now.

I don't remember where you are but you wouldn't happen to be coming to WSIKF this year would you?

id love to do a kite festival tour though sometime. maybe when im doing less travel for racing and burns. take a sports car, pack it with kites, and go see all the other kite festivals.

what flowtail are you looking to buy?

Not particularly looking to buy right now. While my whole family likes the kites and kite festival my youngest is only 2 so we can't really spend a whole day on the beach. My wife has said she is fine with us getting into the bigger show kites but not until the girls are old enough to spend a whole day on the beach. That said I think our first purchase may be a decent sized flo tail as we all seem to like them. I'm thinking the premier 56" flo tail is reasonably priced although I'd really like to do the 13' if we can.

Definitely hit WSIKF then it's mid August. It's the largest kite festival in North America. Extremely well run, lots of events. My oldest likes the mass ascension events because she can participate and gets a pin for each event she is in. Definitely check out the Friday night fly, the light up kites blew my mind they were so creative

Lincoln City also has a kite festival, I think 2 each year actually but those are only a weekend each. I've not been to that one yet. One in July and I forget when the other is.

Chances are I'll be at WSIKF every year so definitely let me know if you plan to come, get your lodging/camping as far in advance as you can it books up fast

sounds great, i will drop you a line if i can make it, wont be this year though. kassy has some family in the area too, so might be able to justify it that way too.

that premier is the one i have. its nice, its a good buy. nicer than the into the breeze one for sure. i have not flown the 13' one yet, though its on my list too. kites that big can really start pulling a lot, the longer i fly the less interested i am into stuff thats gonna crank my arm off.

Oh that would be an anchored fly for me. I have 2 power kites if I want stuff that pulls. A 6.5m blade on handles and a 7.5m apex3 on a harness setup.

That sounds like a fun trip for sure. Long Beach has lots of hotels if you fly in, the best camping in the area is Cape disappointment state park by a pretty good margin.

cockerpunk do you know anywhere I can buy a Cody kite?

Great Canadian kite company had one for the longest time and I was just getting ready to buy and it might be gone now

Kites are great. There's something very pleasing about a quality kite holding steady in the air. I have three prisms now. A stowaway parafoil (my first), a synapse 140, and I picked up a zenith 5 on sale for $20 at llbean a few weeks ago.
