how many people use youtube to watch music videos or other short videos.

just other day. i had to sit watch 2 ads videos that where 2mins and longer. just to play new music video from band like that came out. music video was about 4 to 5 mins long. just having to watch the 2 ads videos made about 10mins long just to watch over 5 min music video from band i like. that's total waste of time just watch 5 min music video. been getting other around 3 to 4 mins for 2 ads too. on 4 min to 6 min music video too. if youtube keeps this up will lose people. over fact none wants to pay for youtube streaming services. also they make so much money where people ask you to join there channel since make cut of that too. its shame they are doing this now. also if you have ad block be warned once you get warning and to not remove it from youtube your banned for good. so have to make new account again hopefully does marked with same ip address.

install firefox, then add the extension 'ublock origin'. That still knocks out most ads on youtube. I've never received a warning on my account, and if I did I'd just stop using an account...most videos are available without one.

i have chrome. and youtube is going after all ads blockers and threating to cut people off using them if do not turn off on youtube. i use to block them. but now i get to see short part of ads. one make me have to hit skip button now. other day. had two youtube music videos make me wait for total of 9mins of ads since my ad blocker get to point letting ads not being blocked. famous youtuber stream had made comments on this. also was told not to post video about this issue or be take off youtube just for talking about it and how people are not happy with it. he was just point out how people are not happy and going over issue youtube is causing with trying to get people join there streaming service.

Ditch chrome and go with Firefox. Chrome is a Google product so of course they are disabling things that block Google ads.

      X2 on what Siress suggested.

For mobile use (android) I have been really impressed with the Grayjay app for playing YouTube videos without ads.

I use chrome with adblock plus. It gets most youtube ads. It misses the occasional ad, but refreshing the page usually gets it. I got a notification when they first started going after ad blockers but nothing since.

YT seems to be in a running battle with Adblock as it will block for a day or so before YT figures out how and counters with some new code.

I think the trigger was content creators promoting a sponsor at the beginning of their video thus cutting YT out of the action.

i know people that have paid sponsor and still get ads from them. sometimes. for some reason youtube wants no ads blockers at all. there was big complaint about last week and youtube went and told people do not post videos about ad blockers or lose your youtube page. even talking about how it helps youtube make money or about it only talking about how people do not like change for greater good or great bad. they shutting down any talk about this. also been talking about this for this whole year. i have it up since many good site get leaches on there page where ad block not on virus would not let me see the page even if reliable one.

I work in broadcasting and events. We used to get broadcasting fees and pay raises but now, because YouTube, everything goes out for free, but they are surreptitiously generating/building ad revenue and brand recognition with free advertising off the backs of production technicians and event labor.

You guys wonder why the movie business is in the crapper and all movies suck now.

Dudes at YouTube are buying not their 5th house, but their kids 5th house.

              Thank you youtube!

I pay for YouTube. My time is way too valuable to watch ads there or anywhere else. You don’t have to do anything clever. You don’t have to install and update software on every device you use to watch YouTube. You just pay for it and you never see ads because you’re paying to never see ads.

Don’t be a cheap person. You’re only screwing yourself.

And you can say, “There was a time blah blah blah…”. Well there was a time when music used to cost money. There was a time when YouTube was totally free and filled to the rafters with bootleg stuff the creators weren’t making money off of.

There was also a time when if you wanted to watch a music video from your favorite band if it wasn’t one of the 20 most popular acts in the world you’d have to buy your own copy on VHS for $30 or whatever because it wouldn’t be shown anywhere.

There is also this time, 2024, where YouTube provides UNLIMITED CONTENT for like $10-20 a month which is not exactly hell on earth.
