MCB 2025 New Years Resolution Thread

First: Check here: https://www.mcarterbrown.com/forum/m...therwise/page2 and ask yourself, “am I a failure?”
If you answered “Yes” to these questions, ask yourself how you can be better and do better.

Second: Decide your goals for 2025. Maybe give some thought to how you’re going accomplish them.

Third: Share with us in two sections: 1) Paintball and 2) Personal. (Feel free to get more specific. (ie: fitness, money, etc etc))

    Fourth: Do it.

This year I will actually set reminders and check back quarterly to make sure you’re not sucking or to shame you if you are!

    Happy Holidays.

Play more Open Class Pump because that is the type of that paintball I enjoy the most. I've sold almost every mech and electro that I owned. I've also learned that I play stock class to spend time with friends.
Long story short, play more Open Class Pump!

I too love open class pump, stock is fine occasionally but I really prefer open class pump play.

I need to sell some stuff in 2025. My daily drivers need an update, need to get my wife a new car fix my current daily and sell it put my TDI on the road. Wife wants something with 3rd row seating. Need to get my sports car in the shop for a good tune up.

Spring time I need to update my ADL rental. Full gut, update with new windows and a mini split. I’m going to build a spiral staircase and railing for the loft. Just got my PC loaded with Master Cam to lay it all out. I got a few simple paintball projects I want to make with it first on the plasma cam.

I want to get more proficient with the program so I can do blueprints for the fabrication shop more efficiently.

I'm going to be a little more specific in my resolutions.

    Paintball:
    - Less markers. I'm down to 19 markers going into 2025. I hope to get that number closer to 10. I'd accept 12...ish.
    - Make it to a field I've never played at.
    - Rid myself of all extra, unnecessary parts, accessories, and misc stuff either by selling, donating or trashing. I will give myself until Slim's Spring Classic. It is here I will sell my wares.
    - The opposite of the previous one. Have a full, decent set up. Stop using trashy, worn, mismatched gear and playing uncomfortably.

I'm going to be a little more vague in my resolutions.

    Personal:
    - Be active.
    - Diet better.
    - Make money.
    - Create.

That's it. I want/need to take care of myself.
I sold my house this year (2024) and am in a position to really start saving now to buy a new home. Whether that be a Multi-Family to start a new venture/chapter in life or my "forever" home, TBD. I need to start taking the overtime offered to me.
Between being active and working all the time, I need to create using some form of artistic outlet.

That's it. Now, MCB, let's keep each other motivated.

He buys sick MBP CCMs and sells them before he shoots them. Then brings wacky Rainmakers that smash ear drums when fired to play.

At least the MBP is in a loving home and stacking bodies on the regular.

My Resolutions this year are simple- they get simpler as I get older, since I can eventually drop the more unrealistic things like "build that supervillain lair", "go waterskiing with Scarlett Johansson", and "become financially successful".

As per my usual routine, I've made a "for the coming year" list that usually gets disregarded completely 'round about Groundhog Day. They're not "resolutions", per sé, but just things that need to be done. Mostly shop stuff, like fixing this machine or upgrading that one, improving organization, etc. But there's some personal stuff, too, so this go-'round, let's say there's two resolutions:

One, to actually follow said to-do list a little closer and maybe a little further into the year; and two, to finally get around to at least a couple of those personal just-for-fun projects I've had in the back of my brain for so long. Jack is, indeed, a very dull boy.

I don't make resolutions. The word "premeditated" comes up in court too often.

My main one is get into better shape.

Paintball wise. My resolution is to break any worthwhile resolution I would make.

Hell, you can help yourself with that, too!

Hmmm... well, not much planned this coming year.

        Paintball:

        - three projects in mind, maybe four... one's for me, the other ones will likely be sold once completed to raise funds for a lathe.

        - try to play more, although with the only field I'm interested in playing at being almost two hours away, probably won't happen. 🙂

        - get rid of excess and organize my gear better. Like Riot, I'm tired of not having a decent setup. I think being able to "grab-n-go" would be a step forward in getting out to play more.

        Personal:

        - start running again. 2024 was/has been a strange year for me and I think getting back into a regular exercise routine will help with the next point.

        - work on mental/physical health. Hit the big 4-oh this year and starting to notice two decades of neglect, gotta try to keep what I have.

        - start saving for a house.

And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

Looking back at last year’s resolutions…

              Paintball related:

              - Finish up my last couple project markers - DONE
              - Make some significant progress on my outlaw field and host a couple games - DONE
              - Clean/Organize my bench - Sorta
              - Play OSG! - NOPE
              - Double Gog someone with my double barrel - NOPE

              Non-Paintball (in order of priority)

              - Fence my back field for a horse pasture. DONE
              - install my mud managment system in the horse’s dry-lot - NOPE
              - Drop a few pounds (ideally 40, but I’d be happy with 10 or 15). - DONE (about 25 lbs, but I have more to go)
              - Finish the upstairs of my garage for my office/paintball room (this is a BIG project) - NOPE
              - Finish 1/2 my basement as a family room - NOPE

              SO…for 2025

              paintball related

1 - expand my outlaw field (since it will never REALLY be done)
              2 - play OSG
3 - get all my markers running properly and at field speed.
4 - finish my “R&D” on a pistol project and (ideally) end up with a functioning prototype

              Non-paintball related

              1 - drop another 25 lbs
2 - finish the family room in the basement
3 - start my office above my garage.

                1. Lose 30 lbs, he said eating a Terry's Chocolate Orange at 7:54 am.
I peaked bad this year. Would like to get down to 185 again.

                2. Buy a house.
We've been saving as much as humanly possible for a few years to make this happen. Moving in a few days to a cheaper part of the country, and we're hopeful it will stay that way.

                3. Get out and live my life. I had a cancer scare in December 2024, and while I thought it would push me out of my shell, it didn't. Or at least it didn't as much as I hoped. The fragility of life has been on my mind lately, and I would like to feel like I'm living instead of coasting. Honestly it's a hard resolution to define, but I'll know it when it happens.

                  Non Paintball:
                  1. Finally build the retirement/final home. Currently talking with builders, financial advisor and loan officers. We have a few options and we are weighing what will work for us and ensure ZERO debts when I finally retire (3 more years?). We'll have to take a building loan but will be able to pay off once we sell our current home.
                  2. Break down and see about finally getting my ACL on my left knee fixed. Not sure what options are now so off to Orthopedics to see the final damage and weigh options. I hurt this knee decades ago without fully tearing the ACL and it healing naturally. It has on occasion has plagued me with instability and tenderness. Last paintball outing I played pretty aggressively and the next morning it was hurting and that was before Thanksgiving and still bothering me this morning. Well past the time to see what is up.
                  3. Sell my SUV and get back into a Pickup. This is the second time I have sold my truck and not bought another truck. Sorry I am a pickup person and the more basic the better I like it. So looking for a 3/4 ton pre-2K pickup and not overly brand loyal though I tend to favor Ford or Dodge over GM and like diesels (I find them less of an issue to work on though parts are more expensive).
                  Paintball:
                  1. Be healthier so I can play more often (see #2 above as an example).
                  2. Finish or sell off projects that have been hanging out in my shop.
                  3. Sell off excess equipment, get back to the markers and accessories I really use (cull the herd)
