MCB 2025 New Years Resolution Thread

I will jump in here, i have a few things i'd like to tackle this year in no particular order.

• Becoming a Professional Engineer (Need to take and pass a test). Will be taking class to start on that after the first of the year. Need to reapply and all that jazz.
• Get power and make the machines functional by the end of January. I am very close, just need my buddy edward to find time to come and get everything wrapped up and verify before flipping the breakers.
• Make at least one product from scratch to be sold through my web store. (most things i offer are services and would like to move more into machine work for myself)
• Make and sell at least 1 complete unit for the new business venture my dad brother and i are working on. Patent pending. Will share more in the future.
• Spend more time with my daughter.
• Clear out some projects and things i know i won't use.
• Finish up a few projects (riptide, RJ merlin)

Life Goals:
- declutter the house and donate a metric shit ton of stuff.
- organized attic storage better to allow for attic renovation and proper insulation.
-better, more functional storage throughout house
- my wife finishes her practicum/Masters program and will become a registered clinical counsellor by end of April. Be nice to do something special to celebrate.

Paintball Goals:
- sell off/donate/trash extra gear
- find some interesting markers to document
- do more videos for paintball stuff.
- cash in my JT horde
- play more, hit the field with some local MCB members

Longterm goal:
- fully custom milled and anno’d Autococker body

2024 my resolution was to dance whenever i felt like i wanted to dance (ie not let social pressure or shame prevent me from dancing) and by and large i think it worked.

i think my 2025 resolution is to continue to push making art that i want to, regardless of it anyone else likes it. i have a rule about jokes, and i think it applies to art too. there is an inverse relationship to a joke being funny, and the audience size. ie, the more niche the joke, the more communities or hobbies or groups you need to be a part of in order to get the joke, the funnier it is. and of course this means that the actual peak humor, is humor only to you. the audience of one joke, is actually peak comedy.

i think im going to push to say the audience of one joke, and make the audience of one art, and just really focus on that.

Get rid of all double trigger electronic guns...I buy them because they're old and cool, but I never use them because double triggers are stupid and uncomfortable.

Paintball related:
1. I want to start hanging around here more. As I get sucked into other social medias I realize just how disappointing a lot of online interactions are. MCB was almost always an exception to that.
2. Downsize my collection. I really only play with my phantom anymore and the storage space for a growing family is more valuable than being able to outfit the potential guest.
3. Play at least monthly. It has been several years since I played a random weekend and I want to get the cardio back.

Personal:
1. Stick with my current workout routine. I'm approaching the spot where I normally drop off but I have a couple buddies working with me this time that are not above being bullies if they need to.
2. Work with my wife to get her spending under control. She used to be very disciplined financially but has fallen into some poor habits with motherhood. Nothing serious but things like paying for subscriptions that haven't been used in a year and such.
3. Invest the time and money into getting a suppressor or two so I can take my daughter hunting. Start establishing father daughter time early on.

Me the paintballer;
Play at least 5 times this year. Go to Supergame with my old team mates. Last year I failed similar goals by a wide margin.

Me the husband. Check an item off the honeydew list every week. Keep the house is " guest ready" state. Moving the in laws into assisted living will help this. We were an abject failure in this category last year.

Take the wife camping. It's been a couple years.

Me the wrestling coach;
Send Sofi to the state tournament. Qualify half of our roster (9th and 10th graders) for sections. Last year 3 wrestlers were 1 win short of state. 2 are gone wrestling in college now.

Complete my USA wrestling coaching certs.

Me for me;
Read 50 books this year Complete or abandon projects on the "to do" list. Add 3 more songs to my guitar repotoure.

Paintball related:

Liquidating EVERYTHING except 3 markers. So at least a dozen complete markers
will be up f/s and all the random cocker parts I have as well. So if I have something
you're interested in make an offer... I'd rather sell here than Ebay.

Personal:

Selling it all and starting a new life overseas in the Philippines. Checking off as many
bucket list items as I can for these next few years, hopefully more. My wife passed from
cancer just over a year ago so after a respectable period of mourning and grieving it's
time to begin a new chapter.... healthier diet.... getting back to hiking, biking & walking.
Going thru all my art supplies and start painting again. Hell, maybe I'll even take up the Bagpipes...

Hey, make sure you do a lot of due diligence before moving to the Philippines. I have a friend that moved there, he didn't last 6 months. Total ****hole. He says if he were to do it again, he'd go to Malaysia or even mainland China instead. There's a huge uptick of westerners moving east (as you know, I'm sure.)

*lol.... yeah, I've got my 30 day visit all planned and paid for I want to see first hand first before anything permanent. I also have no interest in Manila or Cebu City or anything on Mindanao right now. I'm not a fan of big cities so i'll be hitting more of the small cities and islands... Dumaguete, Roxas, Iloilo City, Siquijor & Pacijan Island.... Malaysia would be cool but I'd opt for VietNam before China....

In the first quarter of 2025 I will finish at least 3 out of my 7 open class pump projects and give them some playing time.

As a profesional I will get the remaining 2 certifications to finally start running my (self employed) business.

Paintball: Purge 3/4 of my inventory, if not more. I'm done working on stuff. I just want to play. I'm looking to branch out a bit more & maybe play some tournament ball. Travel down to MO for Caveball & Spring Pump Event.

Life: Hopefully work through the rest of my counseling within Q1. Close my father's estate. Purge stuff in general. Get back on the calisthenics, eat better & drop about 20-30lbs.

Oh, and I'm taking the class & buying a motorcycle. Wife ain't happy, but eh. Gotta do something for me this year.
