Imagine Metallica as Yacht Rock Legends

    #2
I lived almost 43 years without knowing there was such a thing as yacht rock.... And I'm really disappointed it didn't last another 43 years.

I still have no idea what yacht rock actually is…or why it’s called that.

Yacht Rock is a BS catch-all term for a very specific sound that you can cram some very popular 70s/80s musicians into.

Yacht rock is a soft rock music style that blends jazz, R&B, soul, and disco to create a smooth, laid-back sound. It was popular in the 1970s and 1980s. Some say that Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, and Christopher Cross are among the most influential yacht rock artists. Steely Dan's Aja is considered by some to be the perfect example of yacht rock in full album form.

I am impressed just from a musical standpoint... This is a departure from the original for sure. It isn't Johnny Cash covering Nine Inch Nails but it is an exercise in creativity.
