Axel clicks the link, and reviews the image of an ancient shifter paired with a condescending challenge directed at young people, who have no earthly reason to ever drive stick again. "What is it," he mused, "with old people constantly clinging to their obsolete inferior technology?" Ok so funny story to these. My son is 17 and his car is a 73 Nova with the shifter on the steering column (automatic) Its what he learned to drive in. Well after he had been driving a bit he needed to run somewhere and i told him to take a 90's civic we had. He came back in after about 10 minutes and said the car wont move and the windsheild wipers wont turn off. Yea he tried to put it in gear by yanking on the wiper controls until he broke it off inside the steering column...... guess that one was my bad for not teaching him any other way. Just kinda figured he had ridden in all the other cars and must have noticed how they worked

I drive a Honda with a CVT, and while I've heard a few concerns about durability, mine will have lasted 11 years next month. I think I've gotten my money's worth out of it even if it dies tomorrow
I don't care about street cred, every month I drive without a car payment is another victoryDulce et decorum est pro comoedia mori
