    Paintball During The Pandemic

COVID changed a lot. Personally, I've made out like a bandit. I finally get to work from home, and aside from paintball I'm already kind of isolated.

Be that as it may, I haven't gone to play in MONTHS. For a while, the area fields were semi-closed. Then, I've been busy with work.

How has the 'Rona affected your play for the first half of 2020?

Yeah, I haven't played all year. Local games are running, but I'm reluctant to jeopardize my wife's business (dance studio) by joining a game when even a possible exposure could shut her down for two weeks.

    It sucks, man

Just got in my first day of play since the pandemic today. 95+ degrees in Massachusetts. Other than the crippling heat, I shot pretty well. Surprising lack of cobwebs to shake off. And the 12 grams loved the temp.

It was definitely a bit weird though. No one seemed to be social distancing. No facemasks. Ultimately, wasn’t shocked by this. But I did try to scoot away from folks in the staging area and whenever groups gathered.

I think like anything, just be smart and keep at an arms length from strangers and you’ll be good.

        Played once and followed rules.
Next play in 20days, reduced big games.

Missed 3 events I normally attend.

My one and only game this year was down at Flounder’s place. We still have Click Clack Bloop scheduled for August 1st, so I’m hoping PA stays green. COVID is mostly under control here with our governor trying his best to keep the knuckleheads in check (much to their frustration).

my field i go to thats ive been to a few times has zero rules changed. After not playing for many months from September till june, i was happy to be back. Im mostly inside all day at the apartment so nice to go out play and have paintball talk with the locals, and just any social interactions at all. I could see it being a issue for some people to play at a field like this during these times. Kinda the only place i know that is still normal right now. And i mean the only place, covid affected everything in our lives. Cept this field.

              It's hot for paintball anyway.

I'll be fussing about October forward though.

                I resemble that remark.

Seriously, I don't like decrees. But I follow the guidelines voluntarily. More or less.

I only played twice early this year. My daughter was born in spring and my risk tolerance is far too low to justify going to the field right now.

One of the two big games I play every year was delayed 'til 2 weekends ago, but I played that game & a monthly smallish-big game back in May. Going again this coming weekend & got another big game in September. Hoping to hit up another local-ish field at least once & play a pump & pistol game at the field I usually go to as well. The one delay was the only real hindrance to me as far as paintball is concerned.

I have been out twice this summer, both times the field had some safety steps but nothing that was unreasonable. I had a great time and it was awesome to take my mind of the noise of the world right now. Our numbers here in the Toronto area are not too bad right now so I hope things keep improving going forward. I am really looking forward to Fall paintball and hoping we can continue the re opening.

My wife has had me on more of a lock down then the scene here. Her reasoning (fear) is well founded as I have a susceptibility to respiratory issues after a couple of Pulmonary Embolisms that she helped nurse me through. I have been a good boy and she has relented on letting me play so I would have been out to play yesterday but damn it was just too hot for me.

I think we should be getting out and playing and the risk should not be too bad but that is only if we the players take reasonable precautions.

I'm on reduced hours at work and working from home most of the time. The finances have been a little tight, but I gotta say the boost to my mental health has been fantastic.

I've been playing outlaw pretty much every weekend. I'm hankering to get out to a pay-to-play, but all my favorite fields are kind of a haul and the added risk & expense gives me cause for pause.
