The most intelligent answer to this that came up in my news feed stressed that the humans could do something no number of gorillas could do- strategize. Drawing on theories of how humans rose to be the top predator- endurance. We can't run faster than many animals but, we can outlast most of them. 100 folks strategizing on that basis would simply force the gorilla to run for every attack and, it simply couldn't keep doing that for long.

What I don't know is how one would kill an exhausted gorilla with bare hands. Some sort of choking would seem to be in order.

This. A gorilla would be terrified of 100 people working together as a group, they could literally chase it around until it died of exhaustion

Someone suggested dog piling the Gorilla do to combined human weight, 100 humans exceeding what a gorilla can lift/move. Yes, those humans closest will be killed but that is where they also become valuable. You take the body parts of those killed and start shoving them down the throat of the gorilla until he gags and chokes to death... and if you run across a broken femur bone, jab the jagged edge in the gorillas neck a few times. Team Human by attrition...

I mean it's obvious the humans would win. Strategy, endurance, brains. The thought experiment assumes a straight up fight, but humans mostly aren't that stupid.

What's more interesting would be 1v1. Could 1 human exhaust the gorilla by running around, and eventually jump on the back and bite out a carotid artery?

      Probably depends on the human.

        I

The rules seem to be no hand tools/weapons for this event. That puts a gorilla at a massive advantage, as long as it understands the goal is to dispatch 100 men.

could 1 human exhaust a gorilla by running around? The human would be caught by the gorilla before they got the change. Gorillas are FAST.

This question takes for granted that the gorilla would have any interest whatsoever in fighting 100 humans. I feel like if confronted by that many humans, the gorilla wouldn’t want anything to do with that fight. Even if the number was far less I’d bet on the gorilla’s survival instinct kicking in & telling it to just run far away.

in any situation i think humans would win.. but to make it more interesting i would like to see a gorilla vs the top 10 world strongest men. Big Z, Robert Oberst, Brian Shaw, Eddie Hall, luke and tom Stoltman , Martin Licis, Bjorn Halfthor, Maxime Boudreault and Nick Best.

The gorilla would flee, then hunt down each human one by one predator style. Starring Marlon Brando.

The gorilla would tire out of killing people. The survivors could easily kill the exhausted to the point of incapacitation gorilla. The question is how many people die first.
