What countries have you paintball in?

Did you plan ahead and take your own stuff to play with. Last moment and used rentals?

I was in Costa Rica last month. I was relaxing and thought uh wonder if they have paintball here. Looked it up and yeah there were several places. Closes place to where I was was about 2 hours away. All of them looked nice. Most what I saw from pictures on their site rentals were either tippmann or Rap4.

Next time I am there I will for sure make time to go and play. not sure how I would go about getting a one of my markers to take with me. Likely would just use a rental.

What was funny one website I visited had a video of a girl saying she came with friends to celebrate her birthday. They had a lot of fun and want to do it again. She had no paint on her shirt, pants, hair or welts. I was geez at least rub some paint on her to make it believable.

So where have you played? How was the experience

I have played all over the states, but internationally I’ve played in Canada and Kenya.

The field in Kenya was an experience: terrible safety, ref was… there, all players were rentals, and it was pretty expensive by Kenyan standards. I had a good time, it was cool to play among acacia trees and whatnot, but it was a one and done for me.

Most folks in Kenya that I know don’t have a ton of disposable income so something expensive like paintball is out of reach for most people. Because of that all the other players were wealthy spoiled kids, and there was a lot of not calling hits and so on. Even with all that no one took it too seriously and we had fun.

The owner said he rarely had mzungu (white) customers and he was very curious to talk about paintball in the west where it’s more of a hobby and competitive. He said he rarely gets repeat customers and most folks treat it as more of a novelty to try once.

No paintball where I've been overseas, but I played in a huge, 2- day airsoft game in Bosnia once. Just watch out for the real landmines...

We hiked miles on a flanking maneuver. Those dudes were pretty intense.

I played at 3 fields in australia. Probably about 15 times over the span of 10 years or so. Open and dusty areas scattered with barriers. All rental equipment because australia hates guns.

i didnt know much about paintball back then so i cant comment of paint quality or anything like that.

The games usually had a focal point. A funnel of death of some sort. A bridge. A fort. A trench. A way for the attacking team to die over and over whilst the defending team camps. Switch sides and repeat

Oh, and being bonus balled is normal. Im not talking about the few seconds after putting your hands up and theres still a couple paintballs flying through the air. I mean full-on, deliberate, bonus balls

The worst part: timed slots. You book a parties in 3 hour slots. That inclues your safety and orientation which takes about an hour. So youre only left with a very short span of time for actual gameplay. When i came to usa i was like "i can play for the WHOLE day!?"

Over-all, very few positive memories and yet i still got addicted to paintball. I would definitely suggest playing in another country so you can appreciate how good it is in usa

attached picture of the type of boring, hot, dusty fields we had.

              Ugh hopefully not delta force...

Here in NZ we run games mostly the same way. 2 hour slot, first 20 minutes is safety, rentals only unless it's specifically a BYO gear club game.

Sweden, France, Germany, England, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Several times in each of these countries. 2003 and 2004 Millennium Series events as well as a few one off events in a few of those countries.

Love Costa Rica. Pretty sure I remember seeing an advertisement for a field when I was there. So hot down there, not sure I could play.

                  Just one: New Zealand >_<

But all over the country, playing and coaching and reffing tournaments mainly back when there was a decent national scene here. NZ is about 1000 miles long so there's a bit of ground to cover.
