It's no wonder they call television a medium. It's seldom rare or well done.

If you take all the blood vessels out of a mans body and lay them end to end the man will probably die.

Speaking of blood, the rock band KISS, back in 1977, had some of their blood mixed in with the red ink, in order for Marvel to print a special edition comic, showing them (the band) as superheroes.

The word dime stems from disme (French) meaning tenth part, which stems from decimus (Latin) meaning one tenth.

"Decimated" means the same thing- reduced by one-tenth.

If the attacking army was "decimated", it wasn't "wiped out", as is the common use of the term today, it means it was merely reduced by one-tenth.

In particular, it was a form of punishment in the Roman Legions where one in 10 legionnaires was executed by his fellow soldiers. In some accounts, this was done by beating them to death with metal rods.

5 out of 4 people can't do basic math.

4 out of 5 people make up 80% of the population.

In an effort to find a better way to market the usefulness of “modern steam engines” James Watt is credited with determining the conversion for the value of watts to “horsepower”.

Watt studied horses for several months through a series of experiments and determined the average horse could perform roughly 497J of work, every second for a 10 hour day. (So 497 Watts) Defining that that 497W = 1 horse power

He received so much backlash from the general population because “my horses are better than the average horse”. In order to appease the public, he “made up” a new number (multiplied 497 by 1.5). giving us the now accepted relationship of: 1 Horse Power = 745.5 Watts

The instant you were born, for a short time, you were the youngest person on earth.

11/02/2000, is the date when the entire population of earth was not all on earth, as the first crew were on the International Space Station.
