Buttons on Timex watch "stick". Suggestions?

My son has a Timex watch which he loves. Due to gunk getting in and around the buttons they stick and their functions cannot be used. Any suggestions to resolve this? No banana for scale.

take it apart and clean it, you should be able to unscrew the backing, dump the guts out and clean around the buttons.

Seconding. If it was me, I'd try and take it apart, take the battery out, then lightly scrub where needed with a toothbrush and ~90%+ ISO alcohol.

Had the same issue on a Suunto core. Gotta take it apart and clean the buttons.

Thank you for the advice. He'll be getting a crash course in taking apart his watch then.

Zero residue contact leaner. Safe on plastics. It dissolves gunk and grime.

        They make one with silicone.

Just make sure to wear gloves, well ventilated etc.

        Great stuff.

This is how I started down the rabbit hole and ended up building watches from parts...but yes it should be easy to take apart and clean and much more robust than an analog and/or mechanical watch. Just be careful of the dust. Getting some dust trapped inside can be maddening.... Click image for larger version
