    Fatboy pods legit? Or scam?

I’m hoping this is legit. But it just seems odd.

    https://fatboystuff.com/fatboy-paintball-shot-pot.html#

I’d love to get some fatboy pods. They were by far the best pods ever made. For those that don’t know, fatboy pods were made by WDP back in the day. They were super durable, and had a recessed thumb tab.

On another note…does anyone know why nobody has ever copied them? The recessed tab would pair great with strapless packs.

I think i saw somethung about the new infamous pods having a similar thumb recess. As for why it wasnt copied, I bet it was a patent thing.

I know that there have been serious inquiries over the years trying to get the rights and molds for those.
      Very serious inquires.
Apparently, Mr. Green would not deal at all and sat on everything hoping to get more $
Looks like he might have made a deal?
Or someone reverse engineered the pod and made a mold.
Either way, this is good news.
I can replace my old pods now and stop scrounging for replacements.
I think I have 2 spares left for my current pack-out.

Very interesting. The phone number goes to a UK paintball field, https://www.npfbassettspole.com/?srs...cb-ruCN2VHvW4f

I always loved the Fatboy logo lol, and the barrel plugs.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I feel like I was able to order some just fine a couple years ago, and was stoked when I found them on some janky but legit website for my old school horizontal Tiger Stripe 6 pack that I picked up on here . Kinda like ordering anything from Allen Paintball Products. maybe it was a few years. i swear time has gone into warp speed. either way I'll pick up a few more if they become available again. They were really good.

That's amazing. Wouldn't mind some 100rd Fat Boys.

I still have all my old 140rd Fat Boys, but too afraid of losing or breaking them, so i only carry gxg pods to the field.

I've had my original Fatboys for going on thirty years now. They still look brand new too. I only recently picked up some Dye pods just to use with my CRBN CC strapless pack for fear of losing the Fatboys. Those are staying in the strapped Dye pack.

The ones they have posted look like GXG with. Different brand.

I thought the Fat boys had like a collar on the pod. They were like 3 piece vs 2 of the GXG

What made them different then? They thicker?

Chuck they did not have a tab that stuck out much, if at all, on the lid like lots of pods do. I personally didn't like them much for that reason but lots of people did. I believe they were also generally higher quality than some other offerings during their heyday.

Pretty much, yeah. The fact that my Fatboys have survived almost thirty years and remain as tough and reliable as ever just goes to show how tough they are.

I believe the Greens still operate a field. I was contacted by Bill Green the grandson and he mentioned it. He purchased a lot of the oldstock Angel stuff we had a while back. I’m not sure if this field is the one operated by them, but we could ask.

Our team tries doing a minimum order, but since they were in the UK, they stopped replying to my emails about shipping to Canada.

The dye proto pods are better than the Fatboy pods. Fatboy pods are great but as long as similar protected tab pods are available I am happy.

Found the emails from 2022. Fraser Colley was the person there who replied. Apparently they were willing to look into shipping 70 pods via boat, as air shipping would have been over $200.

So I'd they willing to do it again, I'd be willing to take 10 at least.

True. I think it was more trademarking rights or something like that.
You would think that a quick scan and cut some molds and you are going.
Possibly the same reason nobody has tried to copy Angel markers.
Most of the components were coming from China anyway.
Little secret... The last batches of American sold Angels were actually built at PB Sports store from parts shipped over from China.

Yeah it couldn't have been a patent thing, those expire after 15 years. I'd bet people didn't see the profit in copying something like a pod as likely only players like you guys would appreciate the differences. The Facebook crowd would be buying whatever garbage HK army produced by the container load and leaving them on the field because they couldn't be bothered to wash out last games broken paint

Do such players really exist? I've worked with pros that treated SPONSORED gear like this, which was understandable since they had negative incentive to take care of it since it wasn't theirs to begin with.
