So some younger guys started skating at my work and asked if I still had a board. We come in a little early to skate sesh before work or sometimes on break. I ended up picking up a cheap complete off Facebook marketplace for $50. Been dabbling but getting a little more serious the last week. So far I've re-learned Ollies, shuvits, and kickflips but I think I'm gonna need new shoes. 34 years young but man is it more exhausting than I remembered

I just recently returned to skateboarding. Haven't skated since I was 17 and broke my ankle tre flipping a 6 stair. My son has become interested and reignited my love for skating. Now I have very little interest in street skating and have been mainly cruising and skating a couple bowls. I've really been enjoying it!Gas, Grass or Brass, no one rides for free... -
Awesome. I want to get back into it but I break way harder than I used to.Do hard things for fun. Being soft is for sissies. Being an asshole is easy, thats why everyone is one. Being stand up us hard. Be a hard bastard but be respectful.Comment

Yeah man my nieces and nephew started up then my daughter wanted to skate so I picked up my board after 30 years of not skating...
I wear a helmet and all the pads...even wrist guards
I cruise the skate parks back and fourth one side of the park to the other side of the park...
Will hit the pool but just to cruise around
Love to hit little 6 foot banks and try to get a grind in but thats about it..
Just trying not to fall... thats my main trick I do...Pumps4ever Feedback Page https://www.mcarterbrown.com/forum/b...-feedback-page

I still skate regularly, turned 53 October 9th. I’ve been in love with skateboarding since 1979. So happy to see this thread.

I also got back into skateboarding in recent years thanks to my 10 year old.
He’s really come a long way this year. A few years ago I got him what is now considered standard popsicle and he was never that into it. He learned things but didn’t seem to be as in love with the board as I would have been at that age. One day this spring I loaned him my Blockhead Sidewalk Shark, which at 11” wide is one of the hugest boards you can buy and from then on it was his. “I like the great big heavy board.” It’s on Arbor wheels and Ace trucks so it rides and turns like a dream. I replaced it with the new Lambert “Wolfbeast” and Dirtclod wheels. It’s amazing what this thing will roll over. The mild concave on these big Blockhead boards is very nice to my feet…
I suck as bad as ever but that’s OK. It’s all about him now. He doesn’t do any other sports or whatever and since we live in suburbs with no sidewalks there is nowhere to skate and nobody his age to talk to going out and playing is unfortunately a specific activity. He can’t just tool around like I did in the 80s. At the skatepark he introduces himself to everyone, and when you’re there for that you’ll realize the nicest people in the world hang out at skate parks. Even the crackheads are cool.1 PhotoComment

I may be past the 'revival' stage, i occasionally breaking out the old boards & cleaning them up, maybe ride around the block.... I rode a bit in high school (watsonville, ca class of 93), mainly place to place/downhill & some street in capitola/santa cruz. kids played with 'em but weren't interestedComment

I longboard my ankles can’t take the tricks anymore.
I use to ride a lot with my dog. He would pull me around we would rip around town and do miles on the local paved walkways it was a ton of fun. He passed unfortunately and my new puppy is way too easily distracted to pull. He’s literally a tank and would kill me the minute a squirrel or leaf would blow by. He tries to bite the board and I’m afraid to run his feet over at speed. I took him out one time and he jumped across me to go after a critter and I ended up in the grass luckily lol. Ate shit so hard
Now I just free ride mostly. Its setup to carve turns super tight and is super smooth to ride.

I too longboard. Ill take a pic when I get home. My problem is the reason I ride.....Speed. Nothing makes me happier than just blazing as fast as these things can go down hills. Powersliding corners is more of a rush than any ramp I skated in my youth or gnarly rail slide I ever attempted. Speed is an unforgiving mistress though. Even with pads and a helmet on. Just cant win, especially now, in my not so middle 40's. Getting old absolutely sucks beyond description because my interests havent aged a day. I still love doing the things I did in my 20's and so does my brain. My poor body is taken along whether it likes it or not. Nah, not taken, probably more abducted. Its the smart one in the situation. It knows whats gonna happen but the stupid brain says LETS GO!!!!!!!Do hard things for fun. Being soft is for sissies. Being an asshole is easy, thats why everyone is one. Being stand up us hard. Be a hard bastard but be respectful.Comment

I've been a born BMX guy who is now in my 30s. One thing I can say is you don't fall the same as when you were young. Have fun, but be very cautious. I learned a hard lesson at 18 what health insurance deductibles are due to a crash. Also the joys of missing work and consequently, money.
Some of us slow down, but we can still enjoy the hobby. I keep it mild these days.Comment

I bought OJ wheels for the first time recently, some 101A Chubbies for the park. They are fine but I was disappointed to see the sticker saying they are made in China. Given that skateboard wheels are something Americans can still make just as well as anyone this is kind of disappointing…like if your kid is only good at gym class and for some reason won’t even show up for that.Comment
