for me, in playing paintball the struggle is more making the time to go & finding nearby events that other people i know are attending (i typically work weekends & am kind of isolated). once i'm at the field i relax.

otherwise i'm a maker, and the struggle is to maintain enthusiasm & focus to see projects through. thus my desk is a mess of unfinished lightsabers, 40k models, markers, chain maile, leather, paracord, etc.

I find that for some reason I seem to gravitate to torturing myself in my hobbies and doing things the difficult way. I ride hard enduro and moto trials. Moto trials is just very hard because no type of motorcycle experience will really make you better at it and the bikes are just weird and spongey but have the torque to fly out from under you. At first its really frustrating even to make turns without putting your foot down but once you learn to drag the rear brake and slip the clutch, work those hips, it feels good to make it through full lock turns at a snails pace with no dabs. The trials riding luckily makes you better at hard enduro which is like trials on a full size enduro bike. Often faced with terrible terrain with things like ledges you can't even walk up or stand on, rock gardens that will make you use all of your energy to get through or hill climbs that seem impossible sometimes. I have found that when riding my dirtbike I am not entertained unless I question why the hell I do this to myself at least once during the ride lol. When it comes to paintball I am usually either playing with my pump guns or autocockers. I have the most fun with these because its hard though I shoot both of them inherently better than anything else. I have had days where I get wrecked a bit by folks with electros playing pump but, even on those days those few good snaps I get on those players is better than 10 eliminations using my 170R. I enjoy the struggle, the terrible terrain, the one shot to every 15. In this way it seems I take part in keeping the struggle real haha!
